Huge numbers of our population believe in a complete alternate reality.
Alternate facts as it were.

But just as intensely as I believe they are deluded, they think I am the one who is deluded.
Maybe I am. So how can I be confident in my perception? It can be quite difficult.
But, I have found that in times of political confusion, the presence of Nazis can be an extremely helpful indicator.

If I am attending a local demonstration or event and I see Nazis…neo-Nazis, miscellaneous-Nazis, master race Nazis, or the latest-whatever-uber-mythology-Nazis, I figure out which side they are on.
And if they are on my side of the demonstration? I am on the wrong side.

It is tough to argue moral equivalence when I am standing next to a Nazi.
Look at pictures from any number of Trump rallies — and many pictures from the attack on the Capitol.
Is there a guy wearing a 6MWE t-shirt? (stands for 6 Million Wasn’t Enough, as in 6 million dead Jews during the Holocaust)
That is the wrong side.

Use the presence of Nazis as a guiding light through a fog of disinformation.

Some things are relative, and politics can absolutely have its grey areas.
But evil and good are absolute.
As are the lessons of history.
So, just look for the Nazis, and make your own decisions.

One side wants every citizen to have healthcare, higher wages/better benefits, and a clean environment.

The other side calls them communist fascists.

It's pretty clear who is delusional.

Many of these delusional people carry the flags that are no longer relevant.
  • The Nazi Swastika, an utterly defeated ideology.
  • The Confederate battle flag, another utterly defeated ideology.
  • The Trump 2020 flag, a soon to be utterly defeated ideology.

While I can see the problem with thinking like a Nazi when it came to the extermination of the Jews, who really weren't guilty of what was believed about them, I have a much more difficult time seeing why the Nazi philosophy shouldn't be applied to Republicans who, if you ask me are guilty of the destruction of American Democracy and other crimes against humanity. For that reason I would heavily caution against too much self certainty. You might end up becoming what you fear.
