What do you think is possible within the limitations of a 4KB application?

Demos are simply that. A demonstration, and in this case of ones coding ability. Agility on formula manipulation. Basically, Ive found a fully fledge 3D game with Quake 2-esk graphics at 128KB. That includes textures, music and a 3d engine. D:
These are just a time waster. Im going though all my bookmarks to clean shit out and found this again from a few years back. Its just a bunch of people trying to out-do each other in different categories; 128KB, 64KB, 32, 16, 8, 4, and even into the B range its amazing some of stuff people can squeeze into these tiny programs.
It seems like 64KB is the standard and anything less is where a lot of the skill come into play, although larger ones can have a ton of content in them. Ive seen a 64KB demo that had graphics like HL2. Quite amazing.
For anyone that has an appreciation of ultra small and clever code I point you to download a Demo from a demoscene site http://www.pouet.net/
Not sure how many of them work, last I checked this out was in 07 and about half I clicked on worked. Trying to find that 3D game again.. If you find a cool one post the link!
EDIT: Here is a better link to some of the better ones through the years. /pat self on back for learning how to sort lists http://www.pouet.net/prodlist.php?platform[]=Windows&order=thumbup
