Demon's Souls sequel coming to 360/PS3, will it sell on the 360?

I know there have been a few niche hardcore non-FPS titles on the 360 that have sold well, but if Dark Souls stays true to Demon's Souls play style, I can't imagine it would sell very well on the 360 or that a majority of 360 gamers would even look twice at it, especially in a year when Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 are set to hit.

Anyone see Dark Souls doing the kind of numbers on the 360 that Demon's Souls did on the PS3? I'm definitely curious to see how it'll do when it comes out. I would say of the 3 dozen or so people I personally know who own a 360, at least 90% of them would have spent 2 minutes on Demon's Souls and would have never touched it again.

It will if its good (haven't played demon souls). Its not like all of the xbox360 owners are FPS whores and if 90% of the players leave it behind after 2 mins then there is something seriously wrong with the game.

If Demon's Souls hadn't been the success it was, I would've said no. There's just isn't the same "Japanese import" Atlus fan-base on the Xbox 360. But Demon's Souls went far beyond that, gaining a much more wide-spread appeal. Assuming Dark Souls does similiarily well on the PlayStation 3, then it should do ok on the 360. It's not going to appeal to every Xbox 360 owner, but Demon's Souls didn't appeal to every PS3 owner either. It did really well, but it was no Little Big Planet or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

I would say it won't do as well on the 360 as it will on the PS3. Some gamers will enjoy it, but I feel most of the "typical" 360 crowd won't.

I agree. Number wise, it may do okay, but I think the percentage of 360 users who would enjoy DS is far lower.

I might actually get it for 360 instead of PS3, if I can convince some of my 360-only friends to get it too. Thing is that they pretty much all just play Halo/CoD/add-generic-FPS-here so, it may be difficult...

The decision gets tougher when I factor in the PS3 hacking issues and paying for XBL...

All there is on xbox besides mass effect, wake alen and dragon age, are shooters.

As seen by sale figures, the majority of non-fps games on xbox sell very few units when compared to FPS games.

Don't let your raging fanboyism get in the way but there are several JRPGs out on Xbox 360 that came out first on 360 and some that have never come out on PS3.

Most glaringly is Lost Odyssey which is one of the better JRPG this gen and much better than FFXIII. Whether they sold well or not is irrelevant to the fact that they are, as you say, "on xbox"

But whatever...

I love Demon Soul's. It is my favorite game this gen. I'll probably buy the sequel on PS3 since obviously that's how I played the first one.

Going off what little I read about Demon Souls. If it had been on the xbox I'd have gave it a real good look, even more so when it dropped down to the ~$20 price as it sounded like a pretty fun challenging game. I'll be keeping an eye on this one to see how it is.

Dark Souls is going to be more open world and more challenging from what I read on IGN the other day.

Open world should help it appeal to a wider base, while keeping the play style and difficulty should keep the hardcore fans happy as well. I agree with the above in that it will probably sell fairly well on the 360, but probably a good bit better on the PS3.

Now I have to decide what system to get it on. Probably whatever my friends decide on.

So long as they don't dumb it down, I will love it. I will probably pick it up on Xbox, due mostly to being able to party chat with friends.

I wouldn't underestimate the appeal of the game on the 360. Games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age have done very well on the 360. While DS is distinctly different than those games and is from a Japanese developer, the gameplay is very much Western in style and has more in common with those games than most menu driven JRPGs. I think it will sell well.

I think a good amount of people will buy it, and half of them will whine it is too hard. This was on the PS3 as well. Ninja Gaiden is very popular and it is up there in difficulty.
