Somehow liberals will defend this.

Sandy Newman, president of Voices for Progress wrote to Podesta in an email

There needs to be a Catholic Spring, in which Catholics themselves demand the end of a middle ages dictatorship and the beginning of a little democracy and respect for gender equality in the Catholic church.

Podesta responded to Newman:

We created Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good to organize for a moment like this.

Who do these people think they are they can attempt to undermine a religious organization?

Why don't they do this with orthodox jews or muslims?

Liberals tolerant and loving as long as you agree with them. Do not agree with them and they will attempt to undermine your organization.

Why are democrats even around? Who in their right mind would support such and organization.

OP it's obvious that sitting around without work is bad for your mental health. Get out, go volunteer in your community find something useful to do and soon.

You mean a group that is for liberal issues in the US is targeting the biggest religious group in the US?

What exactly is wrong with organizing a group for actual Catholics who are not happy with their church to try to affect change within that church?

This is a religious organization. They can do whatever they want.
Not whatever, like molesting little kids. They can be against equality for women, and others can criticize them for it. First Amendment is not a one way street.

You have to understand how the right wing mind works. What they say is free speech, but people speaking out against it or holding them to their words is assault on free speech.

Democrats are taking actions to undermine the catholic church. This is a political organization interfering with religion.

Not for profits are prohibited from talking about politics or promoting politics. But yet a political party can interfere with the church.

I would be interested in hearing TH"s thoughts on this as well. It appears this is a Catholic group that is trying to change the Catholic church from the inside. Why is the OP opposed to Catholics trying to influence the Catholic church?

OP, you are aware Catholics were pretty firmly in the Dem's corner up until a few decades ago, right? And that the Catholic church has had traditionalist and modernist factions for decades, with the modernists generally leaning towards reforms?

As a Catholic myself, this ranks as a 1 or 2 out of 10 on the scandal meter.

This is not regular members asking for change.

Democrats set up an organization with the purpose of undermining the faith.

Big difference between the two.

So what? It's entitled to do so. A political party is not the state. Read the First Amendment.

Churches promote politics all the time. Are you saying anti-abortion stance is OK, but gender equality is not?
A political party most certainly can "interfere" with the church by speaking out against gender discrimination.

Why are Catholics being targeted? Why not orthodox Jews and Muslims?

And they have. All those child rape victims aren't going to be going away any time soon.

This is what happens when you don't engage your brain.

I assume you have evidence to support your statement "This is not regular members asking for change". You know these people personally? Have they joined the Catholic church falsely as part of a campaign to infiltrate the church and spread their liberal ideology?

No one did a better job of undermining the faith then the Catholic hierarchy.
