Why do Reps seem to think people can handle their finances but not their habits?

The Republicans take a more moderate stance on the drug issue. They don't go all out saying that they want to legalize drugs and spend billions of dollars giving drugs out to hopelessly addicted American junkies, but at the same time they don't say that they want to spend billions of dollars on some kind of massive anti-drug campaign. The Republicans are big on supporting common senses causes, like being against drunk driving. Thanks to the Democratic party (a Democratic Rep. out of New York once claimed drunk driving was a form of expression protected by the First Amendment) the U.S. has the most liberal drunk driving laws in the world, with most offenses amounting to a mere slap on the wrist.

The Democrats stance has been to try to criminalize cigarette companies, and try to punish those who smoke, but at the same time try to legalize marijuana. All I can say is: WTF? More hypocrisy! :p

Several here have no idea how our economy works, let alone how the proposed investment of a small percentage of SS money could NEVER lose a cent! Social Security is in deep do-do! More money thrown at a soon to fail program will not fix it!
