Finally someone pointing out their blatant attempts to keep conservative minorities out of the public eye so they can harvest their votes.

Why hasn't this gotten more press?

Maybe it's just a Minority of the Minorities so it's rather insignificant?

Does not stop the press from reporting on how we need to get out of Iraq and anti-America sentiment is out of control even while polls taken in Iraq disagree

Miller -- who has already rankled Democrats by endorsing President Bush for re-election -- refused to apologize.

And what does that have to do with the other subject?

Why should he? The nominee was qualified in all but two aspects. One, she was backed by Republicans, and two, she is black skinned. Discrimination is alive and well. Political discrimination, if not racial. No matter how you look at it, it was a shame. First a Hispanic nominee, and now a black nominee. Are the true colors of the Deocrats showing, or is it that they would hate for the Republicans to gain minority votes via these nominations? Either way, it smacks of discrimination.

David Duke, there is now a political party you can be proud of in this fine country, and their name is Democratic.

"The Democrats in this chamber refuse to stand and let her do it. They're standing in the doorway, and they've got a sign: Conservative African-American women need not apply. And if you have the temerity to do so your reputation will be shattered and your dignity will be shredded. Gal, you will be lynched," Miller said.

I don't see where all the fuss was coming from. He was describing how he believed the democrats were treating her. Like back in the day when a black american would be treated if they tried to vote.

What I don't really get about this whole nomination thing is, someone posted a link to the amount of nominations bush has gotten thru, something like 168 pass thru alright. 4 or so didn't. That's a pretty good ratio for the republicans. Now, are these that are being blocked for higher positions in the court system? Someone fill me in.

Yes these ones that are being blocked are for federal appeals court judgeship positions...you don't get much higher than these appointments that are being blocked.

Because Zell Miller is really a Republican who refuses to switch parties. He has a long, rambling, ol' timey explanation for why he refuses to leave the democratic party. I saw an interview with Zell recently, he made about as much sense as WMD in Iraq.

That doesn't excuse what he said though. Certainly there are more eloquent ways to state your perspective, but I guess down in Georgia you don't pussy-foot around when it comes to approving conservative judges... :)

Total BS . . . Jesse Helms blocked plenty of nominees for a variety of reasons ranging from race and sexual orientation to alleged bias. Race-baiting is found far more often in the quiver of the GOP (Southern states). I imagine the 168 judicial nominees that have been approved were all qualified and backed by Republicans . . . rumor has it that a few were black or Hispanic . . . the Democrats' "race radar" must be on the fritz.

91% of black voters in LA voted for the female Democrat over the male Republican . . . I guess I could have said white Democrat and [/i]Indian-American[/i] Republican.

I would rather have heard it directly than receive a sugar coated turd. But, I guess after 2 administrations of the Clinton years some people have grown fond of the hidden surprises

Hmmm...I could be wrong but I think most of the states in the south just recently turned GOP. Or are you saying that race-baiting has also just popped up. Please reply back and let me know if I'm wrong about this or not?

Thanks,

A bunch of the Republicans in the south WERE democrats, but changed their party of choice
in the Newt Gingrich Contract againf=st America - they found that they could get more money
by simply pandering to the money block.
The Liberal Southernern Deomocrat (Ain't such a thing) that carried Jimmy Carter
into the Whitehouse in '76 were White Evangelistic Prodestants and were Democratic
voters back then. Those same poeple now are Republicans in the nature of Trent Lott
and his type of open minded non-biggoted non-racist non-Klansmen.

Zell Miller is of the same cloth, he just stayed declared as a Democrat because
he could make more noise and degrade the Democrats from within -
He's just as much a functional Republican as Jesse Helms or Tom DeLay.
