Bush has campaigned from dozens of pulpits. Why is that not a problem? Or is the problem that Kerry is campaigning from black pulpits? Seriously.
Problem is that Kerry claims to be Catholic, then attends a Sunday service with Baptists, Methodists, or other rather than a Catholic ceremony.

attending isn't the same as believing.

if he refused to attend other services, he'd certainly be dumped on for that.

Your certain? Better look it up. A church can forfeit its tax exempt status. Tax laws restrict churches and tax-exempt charities from supporting political candidates. I would provide you some links but it would probably do you good to do a little research yourself.
I doubt that law has ever been enforced against a major denomination church. I've personally been in numerous churches where the preacher has advised the congregation on how to vote. For example, in 1996 I stopped driving my mother on Sundays to VERY large local evangelical church (this is one of those huge ones where Sunday meeting congregations exceed 5,000) because the pastor kept pushing the Republican ticket right from the pulpit (I voted almost straight Libertarian ticket that year). I find it offensive and very un-Christian to push politics in church, and would have done the same had the pastor pushed Democrat (one reason I don't attend Unitarian, my father's denomination).
Look at how the Mormons vote almost straight Republican ticket. Do you think that's an accident or coincidence?

That law does not ever seem to be enforced. But yes, I would quit a church as well if the pastor told me how to vote. Despite what all the liberals sayaround here, just because one attends church does not make them sheep.

My church (which I like 90% of the time) is having a fundraiser for its school. The guest speaker? Kenneth Starr. :Q LOL - my wife (a pre-school teacher at the academy) and I regretfully (*snicker*) declined to attend and not just because of the outrageous ticket prices. ;)

It's obvious that our preacher (and the church, as a whole) supports Bush, but I've never heard him demand or even ask that we vote that way.

Umm excuse me but President Bush earlier this year visited several white churches, didn't hear anyone making any questions about that. So what your saying is Democrats is Blacks and Republicans are whites? And there are a lot white preachers who campaign for Bush every week, Dobson, Faldwell, Hale, and many others. Its like the pot calling the kettle white.

Pat Robertsons whole mission in life, besides ripping off old ladies, is to elect republicans. He's devoted billions to that effort. Tune in sometime to 700club or CBN. Still tax exempt status.

I forgot about him. By the way I listen to Dobson and Robertson, both I believe are good christian ministers. I think they use that though in sinful way for political influence.

If the Bible were like a dictionary, Pat Robertson's picture would be in it for the definition of "false prophet".

i love how religious leaders try to get around the law by telling how to vote on certain issues... and how views on certain issues could be sins and voting certain ways can be sins... it ridiculous... a freind actually told me that his priest said that abortion and voting for abortion was a sin ... but also going to war for financial reasons... was also a sin... as was voting for it... he also told them that he did not see much morality in the presidential politics and that a moral person would not side with either... he more or less got the impression that he wasnt suppose to vote

Check out our "minister" Pat talking about roadmap for peace consequesces: http://www.cbn.com/CBNNews/News/030626a.asp

On April 30, 2003, America was positioned as the catalyst to jump-start the so-called 'solution' to the Middle East crisis. As U.S.-backed Palestinian Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas was sworn in, the 'Road Map' peace plan was set in motion.

"The very next day began the worst month of tornadoes in American history, more than 500 in a single month. Normally, 1,000 tornadoes hit the United States each year, but this year, in just eight days in May, 375 twisters ripped across the heartland of America."

Not spooked yet? Then getta loada this:

"While in Israel, Assistant Secretary of State William Burns told a group of left-wing activists that 'common sense' would override the conservative and Christian viewpoints concerning the road map.

"May 9th, 2003, President Bush addressed students at the University of South Carolina. Bush called on the Palestinians to embrace the road to peace, and see the flag of Palestine raised over a free nation.

"Hours later, tornadoes returned and Oklahoma City again became the bulls-eye for deadly twisters, reducing what was left of businesses and homes to splinters and bricks."

Good minister???

politician on the pulpit isn't the same thing as religious leader on the pulpit promoting political party:p
