How is the bush administration going to make Iraq democratic? That is full of *(!*#. If they have free elections then Iraq will end up to be another Iran. Shia population will win the majority of the vote and some fanatic will turn the country into another Iran.

Is this the pizza delivery boy Aimster or the trashed Nissan Aimster? Or is this a completely new persona altogether?

The democratic Aimster, they all get a vote on who gets to use the keyboard for the next reply.

The Bush admins cannot make Iraq (of Afghanistan) into a democratic state.
The best they can do is keep those countries from falling apart long enough, and
offer enough incentive, that going they way of constitutional democracy offers the
best benefits for the people in those nations.

No matter what happens, they will not turn into the types of democracies that Bush
is dreaming of having.

It would take an act of god to create a government that has seperation of church and state
in Iraq or Afghanistan, and untill that happens, terrorism will continue.
History has proven that when religions have armys they kill each other, and all governments have armys.
Seperation of church and state is something we should be striving for also.
A radio news broadcast today stated that, schools in some middle east countrys are going to reduce or stop
teaching religion in schools, because it creates terrorists. Duh........

Baathist doctrine demands the separation of church and state, something that existed in Iraq under Saddam. It also demands equality for women, reflected in the fact that Baathist Iraq was relatively progressive in this regard...

Now, of course, Bush's total de-baathification creates a power vacuum, filled by us, but what happens when we're gone? What other progressive forces exist in that society?

There aren't any, and it's not the kind of thing that will develop in a short period of time, either.

Can you spell Quagmire? If that's too difficult, how about Tarbaby?

Or maybe the admin will find some new bait and switch, although that's getting more complicated. We went from defending american security against WMD's, nuclear weapons and al quaeda complicity to "freeing the Iraqi people"- how do we now sell them out to some american-friendly religious tyranny and look good doing it?
