WOW. I read a thread here earlier this week about this. UNBELIEVABLE. Politicians really are professional liars.

It is kind of hillarious, you'd think Bush doesn't know there is such thing as videotape. But he got away with it so much on Iraq, changing rationale every month, and noone questions him on it enough.

Not bad...but doesn't show what the Democrats have to offer.
It's easy to put together a bunch of clips and finding flaws...it's another to show your case.

The idea behind these political ads isn't to get voters to vote democrat, but make Republican voters stay home election day.

To late for that IMO. The Foley scandal has really pissed of a lot of Republicans, and I don't mean sit at home pissed off.
Plus RNC, Rush, Hannity etc etc are starting their big get out the vote drives.
Maybe one more week of movement, and then things will start to set like cement.

With nearly two weeks left to election, there may be some recent events surprises yet to come.

Has it ever occurred to you, Non-Prof John that the RNC, Hannity, and don't forget Rush are simply preaching to an ever diminished choir.

What is next---pointing out that dems flip flop and repubs only flop flip-----to preach---you got to have more than a failed message.

Also, surely you're not implying that Republican ad spots are constructive?

If a leadership is shown to not be working for 5 years, what do you do? change leadership or give them many more years to ... stay the course?

I'm thinking it has NOT occurred to him, because he's living in the same fantasy world that the rest of the Republicans have been inhabiting since 2004. They have this idea that the country has massively shifted to the right, so they can keep winning elections by appealing to the righties even if it hurts their standing among moderates. Of course the country didn't really shift anywhere, so while they have the loyal, undying support of the righties, they are doing a great job of pissing the rest of us off. If they lose this election in a big way, this will be why.

I'll believe it when I see it.

In the meantime I can dream that America can be saved from the Evil Republican Empire:

10-27-2006 Poll: Middle class voters abandoning GOP

"I don't care if I vote for Happy the Clown, just so it's not who's there now," said Mary Nyilas, 51, an independent voter from Cologne, N.J. She said she would do everything she could to "vote against the powers that put us in this situation" in Iraq.

"I don't think the Republican Party represents what I stand for. The guys I golf with, we're in the middle class, we're getting hurt," says Joseph Altland, 73, a retired teacher in York, Pa. He is a registered Republican but says he is considering becoming an independent.

Anyone who sees that ad who will say that Bushco are anything but clinically insane, or bold-faced liars needs professional psychiatric help. Be a Republican, be a neo-con, but for God's sake open your eyes and admit lunacy and bullcrap where it exists.

lol. Are you like 15 or something?

If they had laid out a specific plan, you'd believe them?

Campaign rhetoric is what it is. Politicians lie for a living.

Right, not only a flip-flop, which the wingnuts made such a huge stink over when Kerry allegedly did it, but then they lie about it and act like "stay the course" was NEVER the plan. OMG, really? So anyhow, the GOP deserves to have this issue thrown in their faces based on how they did the same thing to Kerry and the payback for hypocritical behavior is a bitch.

The flip flop itself is hardly concerning as it generally means they're learning from their mistakes. A flip flop on Iraq strategy of stay the course is actually desirable considering how well the previous plan was (not) working.

If only there was a new strategy emerging and not just a lot of hot air being expelled about it. Thus far, the WH has issued no new strategy, merely that they're considering one. I guess it's a start . . .
