Your forum handle includes the number 69. Clearly you're furthering the culture of rape.

I wonder if we should start worrying about whether women's romance novels, or things like 50 Shades of Grey, are fueling "rape culture"

So many of the romance novels include dashing rogues and pirates etc who capture women and eventually seduce them (I don't believe they often outright rape them, but then again I've never read one, so maybe they do) either way though... this dynamic plays into the rape culture!

So does portraying a man as being completely dominant over a woman, and restraining her with handcuffs etc, as in 50 Shades.

So yea, maybe it's time we start holding women to account for FUELING TEH RAPE CULTURE TOO!!!!!

Or... we could be rational about the biological origins of our species, and our instincts... and understand that rape is something which is likely to always be with us to some degree, but just be glad that we are able to limit it's frequency as much as we are.

One of the most dangerous things in the world are people who think it can be made perfect, IMO.

I am pretty sure that seduction now counts as rape. At least according to feminists.

In fact pretty much any sex that doesn't involve a man groveling for permission to touch a woman's fun bits first is rape.

But don't grovel too much or that could be seen as nagging for sex which is also a form of rape.

So basically liberals are trying to deny reality and live in a land of fairies and leprechauns.

Most men don't rape. Somehow I don't think telling the minority of men who do to be better people is going to make things better.

Why don't you just come out and say that you want to emasculate all men and then dance around with rainbows and unicorns.

Ok, you're content with our society, good. Most people are. Carry on.

lol, indeed.

Maleness is being demonized and even criminalized. It's enough to make a guy want to go live in the woods.

funny you should say that. lately i have read articles about how society is trying demasculinzing boy's. In educatin and such many are trying to put maleness and masculinity as being wrong.

articles are starting to say how it is wrong and causing issues for young men.

I bet you would shit bricks if you were a fly on the wall of your average teenaged boy these days. These kids have full access to all the porn you could ever dream of at a very early age. If you had to guess what percentage of parents these days offer these kids guidance on how to process all of it rather than just pretend it doesn't exist, what do you think that percentage would be?

I'd bet you'd shit bricks at the stashes of porn I found as a kid and oddly enough I neverv thought to rape anyone and strangely enough no one else did either. But I suppose those priests didn't know what they did was wrong.

The contention that men who rape never knew it was wrong is pretty thin. You've nothing to back it up and neither does the woman who mentioned it. She doesn't have to carry a gun, and people should be taught right from wrong, but to imagine that women will be safe because of it is absurd. Then there's a further issue. What right does she have to pretend that women don't need to defend themselves? Why do politicians effectively demand they have a right to an abortion but seek to deny them the right of self defense?

I don't buy it.

Fact is, environment can trigger behaviors or suppress them... but overall? Biology is king.

There are people who can be exposed to limitless amounts of violent movies and video games as a child and never harm a fly (I'm one of them.)

There are people who can watch fucked up porn constantly and never rape anybody. Including rape fantasy porn!

Then there are people who can live in societies or times when those things don't even exist... or just in an environment where they're never exposed to those things... and still end up murdering people and/or raping people.

Biology is king, environment is it's bitch. Don't try to fool yourself into thinking you can train rapists not to rape. Or murderers not to murder. They will exist, and they will do their deeds. You will never be safe from them except by hiding within the averages. Your only salvation is in the fact that these people are rare, be grateful for that and quit trying to ruin society in a vain attempt to stop the unstoppable.

When people need weapons to defend themselves, that means that society has fallen to a very low position. So instead of WE trying to change ourselves to be better people, we instead want to arm ourselves with more weapons. That means more violence. It will go on and on.

Our culture is based on violence. Everything from movies to sports to video games is about violence and/or competition. Add to the fact that everyone is worried about their own conveniences and you have what you have today. It's not just America, it's the whole world. I even have my violent tendencies but I guess my fear of getting caught is stronger than those. Maybe we ought to change ourselves instead of anything else. One at a time.

Beautifully said. Unfortunately the misogynistic crowd in this thread won't let that sink in at all.

So, in the mean time while we wait for the world to change, women are supposed to be defenseless - peeing and puking on themselves if needed. Right?

Evidently. I hear heaven is supposed to be a wonderful place but for the time being I feel I'm in hell.

The way things ought to be and the way they really are usually aren't the same. By all means work towards a better world and if one wants to live like it's already arrived be my guest. Just don't force others to risk their lives for your sensibilities.

This is what liberal. Better a woman be raped than take any responsibility for her life.

How dare a man tell her its not a good idea to go into that dark alley with those thuggish looking men. They should know not to rape her.

This is the problem with liberals and why their ideology is so crooked
