Looks like another Democrat Senator is deciding to bail out of the 2014 race in a red state. It's looking better all the time for the Republicans to take over the Senate in 2014, especially with the Democrats pulling the political suicide move of a massive anti-gun effort in 2013.
Thanks progressives for putting the biggest conservative motivator back into play for Republicans!

Democratic Senate Control Harder With 7 Romney-State Bids

U.S. Senator Tim Johnson’s announcement that he’ll retire after the 2014 election just made the Democrats’ job of holding their Senate majority a lot tougher.

Johnson, 66, the Senate banking committee chairman, is the second Democrat from a state won by Republican nominee Mitt Romney last year to say he won’t seek re-election in 2014. The announcement today means his party must defend two open seats and support five other Democratic incumbents running for re- election in Republican-leaning states. ...........
In all, 21 Senate Democrats are running for re-election next year, compared with 14 Republicans. Only one Republican incumbent -- three-term Senator Susan Collins of Maine -- is seeking re-election in a state Romney lost. And, so far, Republicans must defend just two open seats, in Georgia and Nebraska, both of which Romney carried.

“The battle for the Senate will come down to Democrats’ ability to hold seats in Republican-leaning states,” said Nathan Gonzales, deputy editor of the non-partisan Rothenberg Political Report, based in Washington. “A lot depends on how popular the president is” next year “because if people are dissatisfied, their option is to vote against the president’s party.”

Want to take it a little easier on the rosy prognostications after last year?

I said "it's looking better all the time" and they certainly is, even if Johnson had decided to run it would have been a toss-up. Without the incumbent running the Democrats chances are even less.

Really, what fucking difference does it make? Republican control, Democrat control, what's the difference? Either way, this country has been sliding towards collectivism, tyranny, corporatocracy, and a police state for too many decades to count. Republicans haven't done shit to stop it.

Haven't you figured out why yet? Don't you think it's time to put 2 and 2 together?

A divided government makes it a bit harder for them to really fuck things up. So with Obama in the White House and Republicans controlling the Senate and the House there's a better chance of gridlock where nothing gets done.

It's already fucked up; The leaks are sinking us and ignoring them won't stop us from going under.

Did you ever watch any professional wrestling? Are you old enough to remember the famous showdowns between Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan? It really looked like those two guys hated each other, didn't it?

Well, guess what? It was all just a show, man. It was fake. You're aware of that, right? Surely you can see that they were acting? That all their moves were choreographed to make it look real, when in reality, those two guys were best friends backstage. Professional wrestling is theater. Always was, always has been.

Politics in Washington is much the same. The Republicans are Hulk Hogan and the Democrats are Andre the Giant. They have to make their struggle look real for all the idiots out there who still believe this country is a "democracy", when the truth is both parties WORK FOR THE SAME FUCKING BANKS AND CORPORATIONS. Do you follow? Any gridlock you see in Washington is an illusion. It's temporary. It's a mere misdirection to make people like you think they have political representation. Well, you don't. Nobody is representing you. They only pretend that they do, just like Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant pretended to wrestle each other.

All you have to do is look around you and this should all be apparent. Every fucking Republican that campaigns for office follows the same basic pattern. They pay lip service to the Constitution, conservative values, limited government, and freedom, but as soon as they are elected, they grow the size of government and spend as much money as they possibly can before being replaced, just like Democrats do. Haven't you noticed that?

What's really been happening in Washington is far different than what you've been trained to believe is happening. Wake up.

It's still a long way to the midterms. Predictions over seats without a very clear front runner at this point are just mental masturbation.

As apposed to the paragon of legislative efficiency we have now?

If any less got done we'd have to donate Congress to the Smithsonian as a fossil.

Good riddance, maybe he can be replaced with someone not willing to go along with disastrous things like obummercare.

We've built a Titanic sized government over the last century or so, and after all this time running full speed ahead into the iceberg field it's no wonder it's sinking. If we're lucky there are enough lifeboats for the passengers (American public) and most the crew goes down to the bottom. Although in today's world, the crew would probably sell the best lifeboats to the First Class passengers, commandeer the rest, and then leave the steerage passengers to fend for themselves.

The Republicans have a very positive senate field for them in 2014, but then again they had a quite positive one in 2012 and they LOST seats. While it is way to early to call, I will be interested to see if the Republican base has learned its lesson or if it will continue to nominate people on the lunatic fringe.

If the Republican base wasn't so out there they would control the senate right now most likely. That's the price of being nuts I guess.

Thanks for the issue of gun control to really fire up Republican voters.

No problem! Republican voters seemed really fired up to get rid of Obama too. That worked out really well I hear.

Not so much, he's a pretty ineffective leader. In fact I'm sure you'll recall that I said he'd be re-elected.

Dunno about senators retiring, but he did predict the GOP would take control of the senate, and they weren't even close.

The Dems in the senate really are clueless. Fortunately for them, there's the "tea party", without which the human turtle would now be the majority leader.

It's too early to tell at this point what will happen in 2014. Furthermore, I'm not really sure it matters all that much, given that the presidency and house are already split.

Since you seem to know did I predict it or just say the odds may favor it?

I agree that Dems are all fucking clueless, especially the ones in the Senate.

Oh, he's ineffective now? It is hard to keep straight whether or not the crazies think he is the next HitlerStalin poised to destroy America or if he's ineffective and not doing anything. Do you guys have a calendar for that, or do you just use whatever argument is most convenient at any point in time?

You said more than once that the GOP would probably take the senate.

Oh, he's ineffective now? It is hard to keep straight whether or not the crazies think he is the next HitlerStalin poised to destroy America or if he's ineffective and not doing anything. I think it's sort of like worshipping Jesus and Ayn Rand simultaneously. These people have cognitive dissonance down to an art form. :)

I've noticed that your statement was ignored and they continued their "rah rah go team" arguments. Why do you think that is?
