Delta is not that loud...

I just got my Delta fan and it's really not as loud as people have made it out to be. Yes, it is much louder that most fans but for the performance I think it's worth it. Just though I'd pass along my experience for the people looking for CPU fans.

I don't think it's loud either. I think some people were complaining about a high pitched whine when the delta was paired with a GlobalWin FOP3X.

Can I ask you gentlemen a question? When was the last time you guys had your hearing checked................😀 J/K

I think its has a lot to do with the level of noise you are use to. If you live in a noisy place or listen to music or something all the time, then it will drown that "noise" out, but if you like quiet, like I do then you can really notice it. And the more you think about it the more "mental" feedback you get til its like fingernails on chalk. Thats why some people complain. But I have seen where some people like the noise and wouldn't mind it louder (Harley Riders - if it ain't loud it ain't a Harley!).

Just my 2 cents

That's what I said when I first got mine too. 🙂 "This isn't so bad, what were those wackjobs talking about?!"
But as the days wear on, that noise will honestly seem to get louder and louder until finally you just snap.
It's sweet for cooling, but if you need some quiet sometimes, it's hard to muffle.
Excelsior to you my friend, I really do hope you last longer than I did. 🙂

LOL🙂

I've got 6 other fans in my case that challenge the Delta. It's just white noise. When family comes to visit, there's no place like my computer room. I could sleep through a tornado.

yup. pretty much sums up my dually. 😀

Hmmm...i have 80mm deltas lying around and i guess people say they're noisy because next to a normal fan...these things probably put out twice the noise...but geez...i don't think people get deltas because of their noise.

Trust me on this the fan on the G3 and the G2 Ultra is louder then the Delta. I hear my case fans also over my Delta. But if we get serious the only time you are going to be bothered by noise is if the room is quiet. Im sure you guys dont hear the fans going when your gaming or playing music etc etc. But having a quiet computer is just one less thing to worry about when the room is quiet, for those of you that sleep in the same room as your comp.

Sorry, but my Delta lasted a week, after that I went to YS and Sanyo Denki for a piece of mind while working at my pc. 🙂

The Delta is not that bad. I do notice though that they are quiter on a CAK38 than a WBK38. So the more secure it is the less noise.

I have actually gotten used to it. At first I didn't think I could take it and replaced it with a 60mm Sunon 23cfm fan. Well, after being disappointed with the cooling performance of the Sunon, I put the Delta "black label" 7000 RPM fan back on and enjoy 29C idle/43C full load temps on my o/c 1 GHz T-bird. The Sunon fan had my T-bird running at 53+ using Prime 95. These Delta fans rock!

hey compellor, i had the SAME experience. i bought a wbk38 with the delta 38cfm fan in a package deal in the fs/ft forums. before i even got it i also bought the 23cfm 60mm sunon fan from someone else in anticipation of replacing the delta. well, i started off with the delta and immediately planned on selling it. i tried out the sunon and the performance, while good for its volume, was nowhere near the delta. i keep my case on my desk, literally 1 foot from my head when i am by my desk and 2 feet from my head when i'm in bed. with the side of my sx830 case on and the 5 80mm case fans going strong, after a while the whine of the delta fades into the background. i guess it's also because there is a ~7 degree difference between the 2 fans on my 1.33 t-bird @ 1.54 at 1.85 volts.

<< i have experienced dual deltas they are freaking loud 🙂 >>

Dual deltas shouldn't be much louder than just a single delta. Rule of decibels: Add 2 things that are the same noise level and it'll only be 3 dB louder. I think Deltas are 42 dB. Therefore, 2 Deltas would put off 45 dB.

My Delta lasted two days max, I even have recuring nightmares about screaming jet engines.
If you can endure a delta, you need an appointment with the doctor, did you hear what I said?....LOL.

Mine doesnt seem that loud, but i jsut got it today. Oh and why don't more of you get teh Alpha 6035, it performs as well asa the others and, as all alphas, you suck air off the heatsink. The air harmlessly blows against your case, there is much less trublence noise etc etc

delta is godo performance, i think is well worth it for me at least. isn't that loud but compare to my sunon is really loud though

i don't think it's the noise of the fan itself. i think it's more the heatsink vibrating because of it. i just did a little silicon trick on my thermoengine and no more vibrating noise. now it's not bad at all🙂

The delta I got seems pretty loud to me. Matter of fact, I moved it to the basement boxes so I can get some sleep. I just ordered the next step down to replace it if it really bothers me. It doesn't seem to vibrate just really loud spinning.
Question: Will the Delta only run at 12 volts? Reason I ask is, I first installed it in a Q-lity board and it wouldnt start spinning. It would just sputter around, moved it to an ESC board and it works great. I checked the voltage of the ECS and it was 12.4 volts, while the Q-lity was only 11.48. Checked the PSU and the most it putting out is the same. I ordered another PSU hope this will fix the volt problem. I am surprised it lets my Celeron2 800 run at 1064.
