I just tried out the Delta Force: Xtreme 2 demo. What the hell? Now, I'm not a Delta Force fan, but I played a little bit of multiplayer in the demo of Delta Force: Xtreme 1 and thought it was kinda fun.

Of course, the game was technologically sub par for the time, but the game was still fun. But the expansion pack, err, I mean sequel, just leaves me speechless. IT just feels like a mission pack that's ~4 years too late. There is no graphical upgrade, none!

Look at these screenshots:

Ooh, the gun is just a bit shinier, bid deal. What was the point for releasing this game?

"Hey, let's release a sequel to a game that was released ~4 years ago, but to save money, let's use the same game engine, and not enhance the game in any way."

The game's okay, but knowing that it's essentially the same game that I played ~4 years ago, I just couldn't get into it. To me, it's like if id Software released Quake 5, without upgraded graphics, no new game play modes, or weapons, and charged us $30 for it.

Anyone here a fan of the Delta Force series? What do you fans think of this?

never played the original but when i saw that they were just using the Joint Ops engine from years ago, i said fuck that. whats even better is that they offer no video or screenshots on their site. the same goes with the game on D2D. pretty shady if you ask me.

I've played most of the DF games but haven't got around to playing this one yet. I actually enjoyed DF Xtreme 1 when I played it almost 3 years back IIRC. It seems the foliage looked better in the first one then in the screenshots you posted of this one. Shame really, they could have come up with something better after 4 long years. The other DF game I was disappointed was with Task Force Dagger. Land Warrior was awesome!

Yes, I know. The trees look a tad better to me than the ones from the second screenshot. The only other thing which I find different is their is a sheen on the weapon in the second screenshot.

Wow...for a minute there I thought I was looking at the opening Humvee ride mission in Delta Force: Blackdown Down.

Sry, I misunderstood your post. I thought I confused you because I didn't label the screenies. TBH, I did that on purpose in case if anyone says "The first screenshot looks a little bit better." :p

Now that you mention it, the foliage does look better in DFX1.

Yeah I don't know WTH Novalogic is up to.

Delta Force BHD was a decent game. Then they released Joint Operations which was essentially the same engine still in 2004. I played that one alot, up until 2008 actually. There were some quircks but 100+ player games with the freedom to do whatever (like BF2) is pretty friggin' sweet.

The main reason I quit playing was due to cheating. It is ridiculous and stupid that they gave up on PB support so early in the game. Of course, even with the support there was still plenty of cheats but it wasn't anywhere near as bad.

I've been checking out and waiting for their new game, Delta Force: Angel Falls. All I really want is a game like Joint Ops with updated engine (graphics, physics, etc), no cheating, and misc tweaks throughout. That would be one kickass game.

I don't know what they've been doing considering how many years its been since they've made an actual new game. I think this DF X2 is just something they threw out their quick to get money to continue operations. They haven't really released anything new since 2004 or 2005.

No problem mate! :)

I actually thought they would up the game in the graphics department quite a lot with this one but alas! I never really got to playing BHD: Team Sabre...have you played it?

I didn't have a clue about DF: Angel Falls. Thanks for posting this news... now I've got a few games which to look forward to: Alan Wake, Max Payne 3, SC Conviction and now DF: Angel Falls. :)

I searched for a few screenshots of Delta Force: Angel Falls and came up with this link:

Delta Force Angel Falls - Screenshots

The screens look much better in this title. Release is sometime later this year or early 2010.
