OK. I have a GW WBK38/ASII. The fan is a Delta and is quiiiteee load. :) I've gotten kind of used to it, but would like to look for alternatives.

I want a fan that is comprable or better to the Delta and quieter. Any suggestions?

Someone gave me this site: GiZzO's Fan Page

I couldn't find the fan that came with my heatsink... the fan is listed as 6800rpm, 37.6cfm, and 46.5 dB(A).

All of the Deltas listed on the page don't go above 5000rpm. And under the 60mm (which I think mine is) it doesn't even list Dual Ball Bearing Delta's, which mine is.

Thanks for any help and.... go Team AnandTech!!!

The "6800rpm, 37.6cfm, and 46.5 dB(A)." is the 7k rpm Delta fan you are using. Your hsf is called the GW WBK38, becuase that is the cfm that the delta fan moves. You might also try one of the Sunon 32cfm fans. I forgot their rpm speed. It's what is used on the GW WBK32(if there is one:)). I know GW used the same numbering with their FOP32 and FOP38 hsf's. That delta is annoying that's why I stopped using one.

I know what my fan is, but on that Gizzo's Page under the 60mm fans, he doesn't have a fan that even has the same specs as mine. All the fans seem to have low cfm... are these the rated specs or tested specs?

Is that page updated often?

Another option if you want Delta performance without the noise is to go to CPUFX and buy a 80-60MM aluminum adapter. Fan adapter height is a huge factor in how well it works, the CPUFX is .75" tall, all the others are 1.25" and higher.

Then go to PCMods and pick up a Panaflo 40CFM/32DBA high speed fan (18DBA quieter than the Delta and a lower pitch so it isn't as annoying). Smack it on your heatsink... I used #4 sheet metal screws with my SK6 and you're ready to roll. If you want to ensure every bit of air is going to the CPU, get some mylar flue tape to cover any small gaps (rated to 600 degrees farenheit..

My temps were off by about one-half degree C from the Delta when using the adapter. To compensate, I replaced stock 31CFM Adda fans in my PC60 with 40CFM Panaflo, installed aluminum filters over intakes, cut out stock case grill covers (pinholes in front bezel and rear part of mobo tray) and plopped in Atomic Energy grills (opens things up a great deal for better airflow), also put a 92MM 43CFM/27DBA blowhole on top of the case (with another AE Grill), lined the sides with Sonex Acoustical Foam to ensure things stay quiet, used rounded cables, and have a Enermax 431 Watt dual fan PSU also pulling air out of the case.

The PC60 has a second 3.5" drive cage on the bottom of the case. I pulled it out and put my HD's next to the floppy. Unobstructed airflow from front to the back of the case.

There ya go. Quiet, cool and DEAD SEXY!

I ditched my Delta and tried both a YS-Tech 27cfm and a Thermaltake 31cfm, they both did OK. There is a difference in cooling potential though, so I concentrated on more case cooling. I am using 4 80mm Sunon 28dBA fans on a case with modified blow holes. 45c max cpu temp at full load, which I consider very good without a Delta, and my whole rig is much more quiet.

You absolutely cannot get similar cooling with any other quieter 60mm fan. High cooling usually = high noise. If you want something quieter with similar cooling, look into the excellant recommendations already posted above.
