Delta fan stopped spinning...

Specs:

Epox 8K7A
with Delta fan (3 pin)

Just a second ago the Delta fan stopped on the CPU. We took the Delta over to another to another PC and it worked fine. Now, we tested a second fan (Taisol) on the PC in question and did the same thing, nothing. Lastly, we plugged the Delta into another 3 pin on the motherboard (for chassis pin) and it worked fine. So it seems like the CPU 3 pin plug has gone bad. What should we do from here?

Options:

Send the Epox back for a replacement
Find a 4 pin CPU fan
Others?

Any suggestions?

Use a four pin connected fan. The Delta draws too much power from the mobo header and most likely fried the header!

Cheers!

I knew I had read something like this before. Does this kill the whole board or is it just a header issue?

Edit: Oh and any idea on where we can get a 4 pin CPU fan?

It usually affects only the power output of the header. Check the BIOS PC HEALTH to see where your temps and voltages are. If everything looks normal, you're lucky. :)

You can get these fans just about anywhere. (Plycon, 2Cooltek, PC Nut, Nerdsbyte, etc.)

Cheers!

We are just going to order some 3 to 4 pin adapters. I guess that would fix the problem, huh?

Yes it will.

The only mobo that I've seen that can keep the Delta's running over a long period are Abits.

Cheers!

I have a delta 30CFM that draws 2.4 watts. I've heard that fans that draw more than 3 watts from the header are kinda dangerous? Is that true (38cfm "hair dryer" delta draws 3.84 watts). Linky.
