How fast or slow was the delorean? Is it slow because its all steel? Or is it fast because it was a cool looking car with a V6? :)

I'm no DeLorean expert, but I rember hearing that they were slow.. I'm not sure the top speed IS much better than 88 mph.

Looks like viper got the specs - actually I thought it was supposed to be VERY heavy with all the stainless steel - I'm surprised it only weighed in at 2840 lbs. From what I've heard, they're nothing special to drive, and not really a good car, just a good conversation piece because of the finish and the doors.

Noooo, they did 88 then they hit roughly light speed shortly thereafter, I can see how that could seem confusing though.

As I recall, they were basic 6 cylinders, and weak ones at that. Of course, 6 cylinder engines have come a long way since then.

Delorean Speed?
Deloreans didn't run on speed. They ran on coke (and the occasional flux capacitor). :D

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Wrong...Mr Fusion :)

A banana peel, some beer, and a Miller High Life can is all you need to blast into the future. Doesnt work like that in my car though.

I've also heard that you can keep the tires for pretty much the entire life of the car since their only used when you take off and land.

And .....................

Q) How can you tell if a DeLorean has just driven down the road?

A) The white line is gone.

I have heard 0-60 times of around 8 seconds.

I believe the original Delorean was going to be a twin turbo but it never made it past prototype. Do you think people would have such a facination with it if it weren't in "Back to the future"? I think not but it is definitly a cool car in my eyes!

It didn't sell very well at all until Back to the Future was released. Same way with 'KITT' (Pontiac Trans Am), those cars didn't sell well until Knight Rider became popular either.
