Honestly, I don't have an issue paying a little more for DELL if image quality is better.... but my understanding is that they have the same specs hence I'll assume that image quality is the same... So why pay more if image is the same and possibly less input lag ?
Definitely less input lag. My friend got a U2711 after seeing my 3007WFP-HC, and that's one of the first things I noticed on it (didn't tell him though :p). I think Dell's new panels are better out of the box, although I don't know if they're better than my calibrated 3007WFP-HC. Either way though, the lag input from the scaler would kill it for me. I'd liken it to putting on Vsync, and then there's even more lag if you actually put on Vsync.

EDIT: I suppose there could be an updated scaler in the U3011 that isn't as bad. Reviews will tell.

Notice that I said see the difference, not show... I play less often, only few times a week but I used to play exclusively FPS and very competitively for year and never had a problem with it.
As I said I think it's farce story, this scare about scaler adding lag... in reality it amounts to nothing.
If I fail it's because I suck as a player, not because of the scaler added lag.

and notice my next sentence is how any gamer will be able to feel the difference.

I have a u2711 and have absolutely no problems with it. I don't notice any lag in games.

Feel what? You can only feel if you are playing on two monitors, one with lagging more than the other one. Otherwise you don't feel anything, it's obvious.

I have U2311, U2410, U2711 and a load of other monitors and I never had a single problem playing highly competitive online FPS games.

A bit of an anecdote. I added a home theater receiver with a built-in upscaler between my PS3 and TV. Didn't think twice about what that might mean to input latency. Suddenly, both me and a visiting friend noticed we were absolutely horribad at both rock band and guitar hero. Like, we both suddenly became downright awful at it.

He got the bright idea to re-calibrate the delay compensation. Sure enough, it went from 16ms to 32ms. Fired up the game again, and both of us just as suddenly stopped sucking.

Moral of this anecdote? One frame of delay is a long time, very perceptible even to us old farts playing casual games.

Does anyone know if the U3011 actually has a hardware LUT, or if the "12 bit processing" refers to the same software LUTs as the U2410/U2711? I've seen some people say it's hardware LUT, but I can't find anything definitive anywhere.

So has anyone here bought one of these yet ? How is it ?

It is supposed to be the successor to the 3008WFP. When I got my 3007, I tried out a 3008, I like having the OSD and preferred the housing, but I noticed lag from poor response times with it and went with the 3007 instead.

Hoping someone has one of these new ones and can comment on input lag due to the scaler.
