Dell's new Store vs. Apple Stores

I can't believe Dell stores don't even have a bit of inventory. The point of a store is to sell things, right?

commercials sell things but they don't give you anything right after you watch them - you don't even give them your money right away...

You're supposed to go to the store and be impressed with what is there and then order it. A speciallized hardware/software configuration is what Dell wants you to have.

Although I'd agree, it'd be really nice to be able to buy monitors or other such non configurable/customizable products.

I know Apple stores make a lot of business selling iPods and software and what not (although you don't exactly need a special store to find software for the PC)

That's the complaint I've seen over and over about the stupid Dell Stores. I don't know why they can't just have the base models in stock. And hell, they coudl even take a leap of faith and install extra memory or something too if someoen wanted to upgrade. Then if you wanted to customize it a lot they could ship it to you.

I hope the stores fail miserably beacuse of that...

And I'm a huge Dell fan too.
