Some laptops may be configured with different sound cards. You may want check out the functionality before the 21-day return policy. DELL is 2nd to none in term of customer satisfaction.

Are you saying that some laptops, with the same model, have different sound hardware?

Can you clarify? Like which model, and what sound cards, and how to ensure you get it, and which one's better?

A hot deal would be like "some XPS notebooks come with Audigy USB cards in the box, ask your sales rep!!!?!?111"

Dell assumes that a laptop user is happy with a simple sound card. Other apps (e.g. Paltalk) merge the voice from the microphone and music from a DVD during the playback mode. This very "simple" sound card does not support the microphone as an input source.

Dell (#2 @ 79%) is as "miserable" as Apple (#1 @ 81%, average is 74%) then: http://www.infoworld.com/artic...HNappledelllead_1.html

The 3rd quarter results should be available in a couple of weeks. Too bad the worst nonsense comes from people who doesn't even use the computers they bash.
