dell xps vs 9100 - whats the difference?

I don't believe there is a difference between the two, just small ones. The XPS has the silver/gray lining around the keyboard whereas the 9100 has the blue lining. The XPS offers the 3.4Ghz Prescott Processor with Hyperthreading (as well as the Extreme Edition), the 9100 does not. The XPS offers 3 different Quicksnap covers. All other hardware is pretty much the same. The XPS also has a few different options. XPS owners have a dedicated service/support phone line, 9100 owners have to go through the regular Dell Support. XPS owners also receive the XPS backpack for free.

When you select a notebook, you get to a page with four tabs, giving you details about the system. One of them is tech specs. Open up two windows and compare the specs.

XPS

No huge differences... but some of them are the NIC in the 9100 is a 10/100, while the NIC in the XPS is gigabit capable. And the highest cpu available for the 9100 is 3.2, while the XPS comes equipped with a 3.4 (and EE available). Also back a few months ago before the RM9800 was available, with the XPS you could have bought a one time videocard upgrade (to upgrade to the 9800). And lets not forget the free backpack.

Personally i'm picking up the XPS sometime this week.
