Just set this up for my son yesterday. Pretty much out of the box.

Just a little overclosk on core\mem....No driver tweaking default install

P4 3.4ghz, 2gb DDR2 @533mhz, 160gb Seagate. WinXP MCE 05

Scores seem fair for sytstem spec's ?

3dmark03....13667

3dmark05....6419

Updated scores with clean instll of XP PRO latest ATI drivers @580\612

I think I'm cpu bottleneck'd in 3dmark03 ?

oh, well i'd give that response regardless...pretty high for a dell though

wonder how much he paid for it

The 03 score isn't very impressive but the 05 score is 1000 points higher than mine.

The 03 score was before I added a gig of ram and was at a lower clock rate.

Not sure if the xtra ram would make a diff tho.

You gotta remember the Dell's come fully bloated full of crap 🙂

I'm adding a second Seagate and loading XP Pro on it to see if the Dell bloat makes a diff or not.

the second gig most likely will not make a difference in your score

getting rid of the "bloating" will though...if by bloating you mean background applications taking up cpu usage

i hit 6200ish on my xp-m at 2.4ghz and my x800xt at 567/579 😛

as u can see im cpu limited

depends on what you think is alot. to me, its a lot when they can hit over 10k on 05 when everything maxed out in my system only hits 6.2k

i dont kno what all the sarcasms for, im actually really impressed for a dell thats getting the performance it should be getting usually dells seem to score quite a bit lower due to some sort of underclock or somethin

I'm always pretty satisfied with the Dell machines:

Setup:
P4 3.4 Ghz
1GB DDR2 533Mhz
Geforce 6800GTO shaders etc unlocked to 16/6
Audigy 2ZS

And I got (after some driver tweaking)
3dmark03 12489
3dmark05 5380 <--- trying to boost this higher eventualy by overclocking

I highly doubt you would be able to oc a dell system through the bios. But then again, I never used an XPS, so it might be able to.
