I know its not a hot deal for everyone. But for those few people who ordered this laptop last week. You might want to review your order.

Price home and office $2,923.42

Prive thru small business $2,764.74

exactly the same specs. both are taxed and shipped free

when configuring the system use the mid range option. (starting at 1gb memory)

to the HOT DEALS police: I really hoped this might help someone.

Peace

small business has $700 off with free shipping. good unitl 03/03/05 I think

The starting base unit in small business is cheaper around $2049

The starting base unit in home office $2249

Both charge tax both are shipped free

note: memory upgrade and dvd writer upgrade in small business is more expensive.
$50 ($250)more for 1gb upgrade, $20 ($119)more for dvd upgrade

peace

call Dell and ask for the $750 off the 9200. I called them to complain that the discount for the 9200 I bought a few weeks ago was greater with the $750 than the 25% coupon I used and the rep gave me a $150 credit to more than make up the difference even though the coupon code did not apply.

> Both charge tax both are shipped free

This is not true for most people.

Tax is charged on dell home in the state of CA, but not in most states.

Without the Tax the Dell Home system is still cheaper for non-californians

Military has about the best price going, and some are reporting ship dates of March 17th or so.....

I am not sure about other states but I live in Minnesota and was taxed on both home and small business.

I remember not being taxed in the home site in the past but dell might have changed there policy with regards to not taxing certain states.

At least for sure in minesotta they charge tax (dell Home)

I just configured the exact same system at dell home:

$2,656.00
Shipping $49.00
Shipping Discount -$49.00
Tax $0.00
Total Price $2,656.00

So if your state charges tax in dell home, go dell SB. If it doesn't, use dell Home.

Are you sure you want that back pack with "steal me" writen in big XPS letters on the back?

Oh and dell memory is normaly a rip off.

1gb stick of DDR2 laptop memory sells for $200 at newegg.

My plan is to get the min configuration, spend the $400 uprading the memory at Newegg and have 2GB dual channel sweetness (if I am lucky) for 1/2 of what Dell charges for that privialge (plus lets me "stager" the purchase).

2GB sounds like a lot, but when I am playing COH, and ripping CDs and browsing the web and IMing on my desktop I'm hitting 1.4gb real memory utilization all the time.....
