I have a Dell XPS 9560 laptop that has a Faulty NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Graphics, works fine on Intel HD Graphics 630, with NVIDIA Graphics disabled.

The issue is that when I try to install the NVIDIA Graphics Control Panel (which is needed to Switch from Intel HD 630 Graphics to NVIDIA Graphics), which comes with the recommended NVIDIA driver, I get the Blue Screen of Death.

The laptop works just fine on Intel HD Graphics 630 though.

I am just curious if anyone else has had a similar issue with the Dell XPS 9560, and was able to fix the issue without having to replace the motherboard?

I have tried seemingly everything I could find online, to try to fix the issue, and have come to the conclusion that the NVIDIA Graphics is Faulty. It also says that it is Faulty in a Driver updater software that I installed.

I wish that I could just uninstall the NVIDIA Graphics, and tell Windows to not automatically try to reinstall it every time the computer restarts, but it updated the NVIDIA driver upon every restart, and then it shows the Yellow icon next to NVIDIA, showing that there is something wrong with NVIDIA Graphics.

Thanks for any thoughts, or help about this issue.

i had an AIO desktop with the nvidia graphics, it did the same thing. i forget what driver version i used, but finally got it to work. it was a driver issue and windows 10 issue. you would think it would all be worked out by now, but its not

Thanks for your reply. This laptop has Hybrid Graphics, so I am not sure if that means that the Intel HD 630 and NVIDIA GTX 1050 are on the same graphics chip, or not. If they are, and it were a hardware issue, then I assume that this laptop would not be usable in Intel HD Graphics either, but it does work just fine in Intel HD Graphics.

Windows 10 automatically updates the NVIDIA driver to the very latest driver upon restarting, and I have no control over that.

And, attempting to install NVIDIA Graphics control panel, that comes included with the latest driver from Dell or the NVIDIA website, causes the Blue Screen of Death.

I read that this is a common issue with this particular model, and Dell believes it to be a motherboard issue, but I also read that motherboard replacements did not fix the issue.

It is around 3 years old, and no longer in warranty.

I purchased this laptop used, locally, just a few months ago.

Disable the Nvidia adapter in Device Manager. This should stop the system from seeing it and updating the driver.

BTW, are you using Nvidia drivers, or the OEM Dell drivers for the Nvidia card?

Also, have you tried backing up the laptop and doing a clean Win10 install from a flash drive to see if it exhibits the same problem?
