An ok system - but cheaper to build your own - especially as you don't get speakers or monitor - also, comes with a fairly low level graphics card, uninspiring power supply (which will effect your upgrade options) and it only has onboard sound - what would you be primarily using your system for?

I am going to use the system mainly for Graphic Design (Photoshop) and web design (Dreamweaver). I only need basic sound. I already have a Nec Multisync Fe2111 21" monitor.

I would recommend building the system yourself - stick with the E6600 but you can probably do better/cheaper on everything else - stick with the 7300LE if you don't intend on any intensive 3D apps - how much exactly does the system cost? I can't seem to find that particular model listed

The system will cost me 1,075.00 with the options I have selected. The price includes shipping.

No need to apologize for buying that system (given your intended use).

There's a lot to be said for having an 800 number to call, a decent price, a restore disk, and not having to screw aroung building it.

I would like to build my own system but I just don't have the time. Thanks for the input from everyone. I think I will get the Dell XPS 410, it should do the job. What does everyone recommend for system memory, 2GB? this should be ok for graphic and web design using mostly Dreamweaver & Photoshop and running Windows Vista.

The xps 410 is a very nice desktop. My only other recommendation would be a Precision 390 workstation.

Very upgradeable system, and very well designed internally.

I have a XPS 140 for 5 months now and it is great. It is extremely quiet. You have to really listen to hear it even under heavy load. It is fast and reliable.
I would wait until half April as then the best deals from Dell come around as it is end of Quarter for Dell and they usually try to sell just that bit more by lowering the prices. As to building a system yourself, I could not build a system with all components for the same price but that might be due to the fact I am not living in the US.
