Dell XPS 3.4HT (no dock) or Dell M60 1.7M (dock)

I can get either one, money is no object. My main hang up is the M60 is dockable but is slower (not slow but slower). The XPS is Fast but no dock and no stand. I don't travel much so weight is not an issue but I take my computer home from work every night and bring it back every morning (currently using am M50 with Dock). I don't want to deal with plugging in network, video, keyboard, mouse, printer, etc... But then the speed is hard to pass up.

Any suggestions. If you take a look at dell.com and spec them out, I have both to the top, except software I spared no expense.

Thanks for any suggestion. Oh, I never really play games only BF 1942 and vietnam when it comes out. But that's only a few times per month.

thanks!

I would say go for the M60 since it sounds like you don't want to lug around a PC back and forth. Sure, the desktop PC will be faster, but you'll be gaining portability for the small sacrifice in speed.

That docking station doesn't help. 1 serial port, 1 network 10/100 port and 2 USB. I will still have to plug in monitor, belkin and speaks. That would also force me to buy a usb keyboad (don't have) or bluetooth.

Battery life doesn't matter much for me as I don't travel often. I will have a spare no matter which one I get.

Ya gotta tell us these things, man! 😀 The XPS originally only came in desktop form.

I'd get the M60 since it will actually be moved. I hope you're not wasting your money on 2GB of ram from Dell! :Q

Sorry, never knew the XPS came in a desktop. No, I didn't go to 2GB of ram only 1.

It has vga....are you using DVI?

Hi-Speed USB 2.0 DockStation

Ports:
RS232 port (serial)
Parallel printer port
VGA pass-through
10Base-T/100Base-T Ethernet port (100Base-T in high-speed mode only)
Two Hi-Speed USB 2.0 hub ports

If you can afford a new laptop, then you can afford to buy a USB kb/mouse. Use the integrated speakers if you don't want to hook up a single cable.

I missed that! This may make my decision easier! Dell has the same one for $90.

its still only a vga passthrough, so you're going to have to connect two cables to your laptop every time
better than 5 i guess..
