Dell, wrong BIOS flashed assistance please

Hi guys, one of the newbie technicians the the unveristy where I work had the task of updating the BIOSs of all the machines and making sure the setup passwords were the same etc. Well he did the job well except for the fact that he used the same bios for every computer. Of which we have 3 types, GX260, GX270, GX280s. My problem is with the GX260. I noticed that the screen was reporting GX270 when it was a GX260 and thought, oh the n00b just made a little mistake. But it will no longer allow ghost to read the HD for imaging so that is bad. I tried reflashing the latest GX260 BIOS but it brings up the error that you can not flash a gx270 with a gx260. 🙁. A friend mentioned that he had done something similar with a non-dell and there was an override switch to allow the flashing to take place. Any one happen to know what the override switch might be, I tried /wipeclean to no avail.
 
I did call Dell but the contact there didn't seem to bright considering she said there are no switches for there programs. Meanwhile, I found switches and asked her and she had no idea what they were about. It seems logical that the programmers wrote the switches in but the service people most likely just look in a database and probably don't have extensive knowledge in the matter. She said she could send a new mobo, but I was hoping to have a faster solution.
 
Do a google search on dos flashing utilities, some like mtkflash (not sure if that will work on your specific board) will allow you to flash whatever you want to any compatible bios. The downside is that you can easily mess things up if you use an incorrect bios file, but it lets you fix things like this.

Get them to send a new board, or better yet, just the bios chip. They overnight everything, so you'll have it the next day. I have never seen a bios flash lock on a Dell board, nor have I seen any mention of it on the dell certified page. I'm surprised it let him flash a gx260 with a gx270 bios.
