"dell white box"?

apparently dell sells some of its comps w/slightly different chassis and packed in unmarked boxes at lower prices....or something....
anybody know the whole story?

Basically they are unbadged versions of certain optiplex computers sold as "White Box" to companies who want to resell them.

Edit: they are not refurbs.

Reseller thing.

Cheap and easy way to get into the biz; just throw your logo on it, and Dell provides the support.

I signed up as a reseller.

You have the option of selling the regular Dell stuff, or these white boxes. Support that you buy through Dell for these boxes is parts only - it's up to you as the reseller of them to provide support at the customer's location.

When Dell first started the whitebox program last year they used battleship grey for the case plastic, it was fugly
