No ebay links.

It might be a warm - to -hot deal if they were Dell refurbished (not Joe Random refurbished) and came with a 1-year warranty but the deal seems to be dead anyway. I'm just seeing used for $170 and up.

Dell has been putting them on sale via Outlet for slightly cheaper repeatedly over the last few months. In fact, they were $157/32gb and $174/64gb a couple days ago...

The only thing remotely "warm" about this deal is that it's actually available right now, but otherwise yes - it's technically a good deal, and no, no ebay links.

I'm waiting until they hit around $130 to buy one.

I'll probably get one of the competitors since the Venue lacks mini-HDMI :(

With the Acer W4 for example you can hook up a monitor, keyboard, mouse in a pinch and use it as a desktop replacement. Or attach a cable and use it as a HTPC. (Yes, the Venue has wireless display, but my TV does not.)

I saw a video that the new Stylus works much better than the original. That's what I want it for.

I have one of these (from the $199/Microcenter deal) and the new stylus and I'm very pleased with it.

Edit: I'll add, I also have the Surface Pro 2 and the stylus that came with it and the Dell Stylus is much nicer.

Yeah I don't know why they chose to simplify the 8 so much. Even the low end venue 11 pro has a lot more functionality than the 8 (i.e. hdmi out).

The new stylus is still terrible, or I somehow ended up with old ones even after they started making the new ones. It doesn't even touch typical wacom tech I'm used to. Not that accurate and the pressure sensivity seems screwed as well. It's serviceable to use as a button pusher, but to actually take notes with it's useless.

if it comes with office (and you need office) its a pretty good deal. i got one from microcenter with no apparent flaws for about the same price, came with office.

if the 64 GB for $174 also has office that's a smoking deal.

All Dell Venue 8 pros have office included. DO IT!

Without HDMI, how does one upload pictures from a camera onto the tablet? Girlfriend has one and we're taking it along with us on Vacation next month.

HDMI is for output to a TV/Monitor. It has a MicroSD slot if that's what your camera uses...

our Camera uses full-sized SD card, not microSD. I take it we're out of luck then for importing pics from camera into Venue 8 tab.

It also seems kind of boneheaded that it wont even charge via USB when connected to another PC using the cable it comes with. I know it's two host devices but come on, at least have it charge...

Probably requires more amps than the USB spec can handle. Lots of tablets have this issue.

Another option could be an Eye-Fi card - I use one and it works well.
