Dell Ultrasharp vs standard flat panel

HomerJS

Lifer
Considering the choice between a Dell Ultrasharp flat panel monitor and the standard.

Is there a big difference in picture quality?? Whoever owns the standard model, are you happy with it?

I don't get it. 😛

Not sure what you mean by "Ultrasharp vs standard" but I compared a 2001FP and a 2005FPW today side by side and there's no contest. The 2005FPW is much brighter and significantly sharper.

That said, if you don't have anything to compare it to, you won't be sorry with the 2001FP. But if we're talking about the same money for either, get the 2005FPW. It would take a $100 discount for me to get the 2001FP over the 2005FPW.

I think he's talking about the difference between, for example, the standard 17" Dell TFT and the 17" Ultrasharp Dell TFT.

AFAIK, the difference is the DVI connector. The 2001 and 2005 are both Ultrasharps (again, AFAIK), so I they can probably be omitted from the comparison 🙂

Anybody that studies for APs is putting entirely too much effort into it.

Max time I studied for any AP was maybe an hour, not counting hw and such of course.

Wrong forum this belongs in the video forum.

Dell UltraSharp's are usually nothing more than rebadged Samsung, LG or other LCD's. For instance my Dell UltraSharp 1900FP is a rebadged Samsung SyncMaster 191T. Dell UltraSharp LCD's do offer both analog and DVI connections, obviously you want a DVI connection for the best picture quality. Dell's are popular for 2 simple reasons:

1) Awesome quality LCD's, they look great, highly rated with great reviews. Warranty is usually 3 years. Pay for it with your credit card and receive another 1 year of free extended warranty coverage (not all cc's are eligible for this benefit).

2) Price. Dell 2001FP and 2005FPW have sold for as low as $486.
Can you find a Samsung SyncMaster 20" LCD for $486 with free shipping? Nope.

I would not hesitate to buy another Dell LCD, they rock.

It's totally weird, I would never over my dead body, buy a Dell desktop, however, I have 3x Dell UltraSharp 1504FPs sitting on my desk infront of me, and I love them all.
