I have been reading reviews about all of these monitors and thought I would ask your opinions about these if you own them. I am a normal computer user and a gamer. I built my own system and run a ATI 9800 Pro video card and have a AMD 64 3500+ processor with a gig of RAM.

I am trying to decide which monitor to buy, mainly between the 2001FP and the 1905FP. I kind of like the 19" because it doesn't have a brick power supply (does the 2001 still have the brick power supply?). I can't imagine that 19' to 20" would make that much of a difference in viewing. I know that they have different dot pitch and response times as well.

If money is no object, which of these monitors would you pick? Thanks.

I think the 2001FP is a better gaming monitor in general (less ghosting or something... I'm a CRT guy). Plus it can display up to 1600x1200 whereas the 1905FP can only display 1280x1024.

2005fpw is what I went with when deciding between that and the 2001fp. The 2005fpw has a faster refresh rate (I think), so that helps in gaming.

Edit: Between the 2001p and the 1905fp, I'd go with the 2001fp.

According to reviews here on the site, the 2005FPW is a great choice if you have a video card that can push its very high native widescreen resolution.

Otherwise, check out the Samsung 930B or Hyundai L90D+ for good 19" 4:3 LCD monitors. The Samsung offers the best warranty available.

Between the 2 4:3 monitors I would go with 20" because the 1905 is not very good for gaming because of it's 25ms response time, you get pretty noticeable motion blur from what I have been told. But I will go ahead and put my vote in again for the 2005, because that thing ROCKS, love mine!

Well, I can only speak for the 2001FP. I have two on my desk and my wife uses one also. We both game and all three have been awesome for us. I can not imagine going back to a CRT again.

Well, I did it, I went with the 2005 and I must say it is very impressive. I played a little half-life 2 in 1680x1050 wide screen and it was awesome! Thanks everyone for helping me decide on this monitor.

actually, it is the move from 17" to 19" that makes little to no difference in viewing. 19" to 20" makes a big difference. 17 and 19 have the same resolution, 1280x1024, so you get no added desktop area even though you add 2" of monitor area. with a 20" you get 1600x1200 resolution so you get a lot more viewing area. with 1600x1200 you can easily view two windows side by side, you can't really do that iwth 1280x1024.

edit: i got the 2005fpw on accident (had that and the 2001 in my cart at the same time, accidentally removed the wrong one, then dell dropped the price on the 2005 so i pricematched and kept the difference), but once you get used to the widescreen it is kinda nice. i like being able to sit way back with my contacts in and see the text just fine. couldn't do that on a 19" CRT at 16x12 all the time.
