I'm considering buying a 17" flat panel monitor in the next few months and came across the Dell 1704FPV. I was wondering if anyone has use it or is using it, and if the 1000:1 contrast ratio is for real. Also, I'd like to know what's the response time, both fall and raise.

My intentions are to get one now and another one in the future, for a dual monitor system.

That's what we use here at work, sadly with analog connections. But they are nice monitors. We did receive one DOA.

I got one of these for my sister. It looks excellent for regular office apps, but I have not tried any FPS games on it. Viewing angles are very wide and it is very bright. She has the brightness set at 20%, btw.

Well, I don't play games at all, but a decent response time would be nice for video playback.

I do a lot of web design (that's actually my job), so I need a monitor with good contrast and dark gray reproduction. Deep blacks and good color saturation would be very nice too.

What's wrong with using an analog connection. I just got this monitor a few days a go hooked up via analog. Am I missing out on something by not using a video card with DVI output?

Oh god.. Hook it up to DVI and be amazed.

Granted at lower resolutions it does not have as much of an impact, but the difference is clear to me.

COuld not use myt 2005fp through VGA now that its hooked to DVI.
