I'm in the market for a decent 17" LCD monitor, and I'm considering the two listed in the title. My understanding is that the Hitachi has great response times, and it's the one I'm leaning towards. However, the Dell seems to have some better stats in other areas (contrast ratio, brightness), so I'm a bit on the fence. I do some gaming, but not hardcore. I'm most concerned about having a monitor that will look great for regular daily stuff, as well as for video editing. Does anyone have any insights or experiences that could help me make this decision?

In terms of brightness the Hitachi has 260 candelas. This is quite bright to begin with most people will want to turn the brightness down for comfortable viewing anyway.
