Hi guys I am eying this monitor for some time.I read the review at AT and was impressed but recently I saw many people complaining about many qc issues with this monitor like back-light bleeding, image retention etc.Did any of you face any such issues with this model? thanks for your input.
 
I've been eying it up too. I think they will exchange it but I'm not sure under what exact conditions.

If Dell is using Class 0 (A+ Panels), major backlight bleeding should be considered as a damaged panel or a defect. Backlight bleeding is very rare if Dell is using a premium panel. For example for every 1000 shipments of our own monitors - we only received 2 RMAs for backlight bleeding issues.

Backlight uniformity has nothing to do with back light bleeding. If you read all of Anandtech's monitor review, no monitor panel ever produced 100% backlight uniformity.

Backlight bleeding is normally seen coming from the corners and edges (you don't see it in the middle of the panel). From our analysis and tests, if your monitor has major backlight bleeding - most of the time it is from the result of the shipping courier or whom ever handle the package dropping it on the corner or side with enough force that the energy of the impact some how causes the backlight bleeding.

You can try this yourself. Find a monitor panel with little no back light bleeding - put it back in its original packaging, then drop the package on its corner or edge from about 6 feet or higher = backlight bleeding at the site of the impact. If you don't see backlight bleeding, keep trying with more force or higher drop, you will eventually produce back light bleeding (breaking the seal of the LG panel or denting the LG Panel).

Backlight bleeding is not really a Dell QC issue, more of UPS/FedEX playing hot potatoes with your monitors.

Thanks, the idea to reproduce backlight bleeding seems too tempting 😀
 
What's the competition for this display right now?

I've currently got two U2412M, but I'm getting kind of tired of the crazy wide field of view and the desk space they consume. Thinking of going to a single 27" 1440p.

I know Samsung has a competing PLS product, but that's the only one I know of. Not interested in a Korean bargain, mostly for aesthetic reasons.

HP ZR2740, LG 27EA83, there is an ASUS monitor, but I forgot the monitor.

all LCD types offer tradeoffs. due to the way IPS works, glow is difficult (maybe impossible?) to eliminate. that said, i don't notice it in my 2713hm. it's definitely more uniform than my 2001fpw is. even then the 2001fpw was only noticeable in the dark with a mostly black screen (like the opening title of "Lost").

Got one, had yellow light bleed issues in the lower left corner. Got a new replacement and it's much better. It still has some bleeding but not to an extent that I would notice. The funny part is, the panel itself is fine, it's the casing that's pressing against the panel making it bleed.
 
The thing that concerns me the most is the reports of buzzing during certain workloads. I am quite sensitive to electronics noises.

Has anyone who owns the 2713 heard any humming or buzzing from their display?

No, but I use headphones so I couldn't tell you even if it did.

Dell U2713HM Rev.A01

No buzzing yet. However, I've only used the Dual Link DVI cable as a connection. I haven't used HDMI, DisplayPort, or VGA connectors.

The U2713HM is plugged into the same power strip as my computer. However, due to space and noise constraints, I no longer have a sound system attached. Keep in mind other devices, even something as simple as a cell phone charger, can cause line noise that may cause buzzing.

My only complaint is that the USB3 hub is hit or miss, sometimes it works great...sometimes it doesn't recognize my USB3 thumb drive. I've resorted to plugging the thumb drive directly in the computer.

Isolating devices that use a lot of power with a power can cut down or eliminate buzzing noise.
 
I am in the same boat, don't know which 27" to get.

What about the pixel overdrive issue with no adjustment available?

Seem buying current generation of dell monitor is a hit or miss, I don't think the black light bleeding is caused by shipping. The problem seem to be wide spread and Dell is trying to ignore the issue. Their respond is that we don't test for back-light bleeding, so there is no bl bleeding problem.
