I have been recently having issues with my dell u2410 monitor where I had 8-10 purple spots in the monitor when viewing dark and black images. Dell offered to replace the monitor. When I received the replacement monitor it was a ST2420L, which is not a u2410. I do not want a ST2420L and I have called multiple times and have been told the ST2420L is a better monitor and that they do not have any more u2410 monitors, which is weird because dell is still openly selling the monitors on their website. I am not happy because I spent much more money to get the u2410 and chose it over a hp equivalent, but I do not know how to get through to anyone who knows any difference between the monitors they are shipping me. If anyone has any suggestions on what I should do, because I would do not want to ship my u2410 back for a ST2420L, please let me know.

I suspect the issue is that Dell doesnt have a refurbished U2410 for exchange. Based on the CNET Review ( http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/dell-st2420/4505-3174_7-34182216.html ) of the ST2420L, it is only a $239 panel. It is LED but I doubt that it is IPS. CNET doesnt rate it particularly well, but purchasers seemed satisfied, but that's because they only paid a couple hundred for it.

Seems to me that Dell owes you a referbed u2410.

Dell sent me a brand new, May 2011 build U2410 to replace a 2408WFP that had developed some issues and was about 2 weeks from going out of warranty.
