Dell U2312hm blurry?

All of my friends have a dell u2312hm, so when I was about to buy a monitor, they recommendee me that one. At first, it looks like a great monitor. Solid colors, nice stand and just an overall good quality.

Problem is, while playing Guild Wars 2 I noticed something strange. When i just stand still and press on my keyboard to turn left/right... Any npc standing before me or just the overall background gets blurry. Like the colours are shifting too slowly.

Is this a common problem with IPS or just every screen? My friends don't seem to have this problem, so is it subjective? It's irritating and it's strange that not everyone sees it.

It's an artifact of LCD displays, all will do it to some degree. It is in general worse on IPS displays.

Some of it could be ghosting which is part of the downside of LCD's.

It could be part of the game (motion blur) done to make the game feel more real.

It could be you are not running the game at the LCD's native resolution (forcing the pixcels to "jump" around some.

It could also be that you are connected via the VGA cable (analogue) and not DVI (digital).

I have two U2312HM, in dual sceen setup, and haven't had any problems with blurry images like you're experiencing

If it's only in Guild Wars 2 and not in other games/applications, it's probably something with the engine. The depth of field setting can get bugged on some maps, try toggling it off and see if it makes a difference.

Even text blurs when moving windows and when horizontally there is tearing as well (of vertical borders/lines).

Do you have your drivers set to SuperSample AA in your Nvidia/AMD control interface? Or adaptive AA? I know those caused me some grief before i figured it out.

I think it was also noticeable during Torchlight 2, but that's probably because blur/ghosting is easier to notice in a game where the pixels have to go right/left all the time.

The monitor is connected via DVI, and I always use the native resolution (1920x1080). I will try turning FXAA off and check the nvidia control panel.

Also, does vsync affect this at all? All the people I know who have this monitor, they have vsync off.

this is a shortcoming of the lcd technology much like their inability to display proper blacks. theres nothing you can do about it, some get used to it over time which is why you'll find those that say they dont see it on their lcd.

personally i hate the blur and how darker colors look bold when in motion which is why i still use a crt monitor and own a plasma tv. im hoping something replaces lcd in the near future, i was hoping for OLED but that seems to be struggling.

Yeah, I'm kinda wondering why not everyone has this problem. Not sure what to do now. I'd try getting "used to it", but it's quite difficult when you know it's there. Just wondering if regular lcd panels reduce the effect compared to my IPS panel, although this model seems to be quite good at blur/ghosting reduction.

this was one of my top choices too. scratched this off because is do play FPS.

until ips technology catches up we gamer have to stick with tn technology.

all the reviews are suggesting 2ms or lower and 120hz. good luck.

If all your friends have the same monitor, ask to switch for a bit or move your computer over. See if it still happens. See if you can find it other games.
