That's a damn good deal man. I am jealous. That drive would go great in my USB 2.5" HDD Enclosure! If only I had the cash... :p

This is hot.
I think 1 month ago, the 40gb version (might be 4400 rpm only) was still $110+.

(Don't have the 20% coupon :( If it's not unique code, would you mind PM me?)

That's hot. The only drawback with these drives is that they aren't quiet like some of the 5400rpm drives from other manufacturers. They do a lot of clanking and clunking.

The OP is a little misleading.. a lot of people get 10% email coupon but the 20% is rare.....

Is there anything weird with the warranty? I remember dell not giving a full warranty if it wasnt going into one of their laptops.

That's a good deal. I ordered a 40GB version from Dell that is now backordered. Hopefully some new coupons will be released so I can cancel the order and place a new one for this model.

Really? Hmm..... I use both the 5400rpm 40GB & 60GB Hitachi (IBM) and 40GB Toshiba drives in my laptops.....can barely hear them....and I even disabled acoustic suppresion mode if possible for best performance.

My testing showed the IBM 40GB w/8mb cache fastest (read/write/access), then toshiba w/16mb cache, then the older 60GB 2mb cache IBM.

I have a 80GB 7200rpm on order.....can't wait. :D

I found the 40GB 16MB 5400rpm Toshiba to be pretty noisy when seeking...definitely not at a "can barely hear it" level for me. But I'm pretty sensitive to noise. The new 40GB Hitachi 5K80 (8mb 5400rpm) is the quietest (and best performing) 5400rpm hard drive I've come across so far. Thanks to its high-density single platter design. The Hitachi 40GNX took 2 20GB platters to hit 40GB, and even that drive was shown to beat out the Toshiba 16mb 5400rpm drives in some tests.

By the way, do you mean 60GB 7200rpm? The 60GB Hitachi 7K60 is the highest capacity 7200rpm hard drive I've seen currently available. You'd definitely enjoy that drive. :D

The odds of getting those 20% off coupons are just slightly better than winning the lottery. Maybe the next good deal where I have a coupon code left I will upgrade my 20GB to a 40Gb.
