Seems it might finally happen. but hey who knows, weve seen a ton of rumors before. But this seems more reliable then previous rumors.

TAIPEI (AFX) - Dell Inc has informed its Taiwan contract makers of plans to develop devices based on Advanced Micro Devices Inc's microprocessors, and these suppliers are awaiting orders for global shipment, the Economic Daily News reported, citing industry sources.

That'd be sweet. Intel inside is part of the reason why I don't recommend Dell anymore, when people ask (the other part is crummy parts they use & bad tech support).

And for AMD, general buyers see AMD in Dell they'll be far more willing to buy AMD from other sellers.

It says "devices", not "computers". That could mean the want to use AMD chips in their Axim or DJ devices. I seriously doubt they are going to put Intel into their systems (desktops, laptops, servers, etc) without sacrificing their amazing pricing levels.

They are only doing this to prevent from being sued like Intel for monopolizing the market. They will be offering CPU's... but most likely not in thier desktops.
Its a defensive move to prevent AMD from sueing them.... they can say "We sell AMD too!" in court and it would make AMD's lawsuit much harder prove should they ever take one up against DELL.

I could see AMD Opterons, especially X2 Opterons in Dell Servers. Intel's pieces JUST can't keep up with Opterons.

That makes no sense. AMD could not sue Dell for offering only intel products. Dell is not a monopoly and theres nothing Dell has done illegal or wrong by not offering AMD cpu's.

Thats like saying Pepsi is going to sue McDonalds because they only sell Coke..lol.

i'm looking forward to some big hitting intel chips on the horizon...they already have a mature 65nm process, AMD doesn't even have a 65nm process...and the 920 D looks like it could be the next big overclocker too...
