Dell sxga display issue

Have a Dell inspiron e1505 with SXGA (1680x1050) display. Also running a MRx1400.

Now in my Display properties under 'settings' it is allowing me to enable resolutions higher than 1680x1050... as high as 2048x1536?!? Now of course it doesn't entirely fit onto my screen (I can cascade around), but why is it letting me do this? CCC doesn't do this. I'm running the Mobility 6.8 cat's, but to give another twist they show up as 6.7's in CCC's information tab 😕

I'm thinking it's a driver problem, any ideas?

Make sure that "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" is checked on monitor properties. If it is, the blame it on ATi.

Awesome, that solved it, thanks postmortemIA.

But as for my drivers, why do my 6.8's show up as 6.7 in CCC? I downloaded the link to the mobility 6.8 cat's someone had posted not too long ago in this forum. I'm really not impressed with ati's drivers.

hehe, I envy you. Sometimes I regret no going with the go7300 (now for instance). But with a 6600gt on my desktop i figured "why not educate myself on ati's products and support". Well at this moment, i'm getting schooled 😛

Still, it is a better perfroming card, and avivo is a plus. But their drivers are horrible... download 6.8's, only to get the previous release :disgust:
