Agh, I usually have been lucky to always get good support with Road Runner, Winfast, ATI, and a few others. But now, I call up Dell to check on the price for a 9700 Pro because I can get a nice discount there. First, the lady asks me for my name, address, phone number, etc. I ask her if I really need to give that for a price check. I end up giving it, then she asks what products I'm looking for. I told her PC3200 DDR Ram and an ATI Radeon 9700. Getting through what I've mentioned took 20 minutes because I could hardly hear her, and half the times she didn't know what I was saying. Her english wasn't very good so it just made things worse. Now, she starts looking and in the meantime she asks me how many people will be using it. I ask her if that matters, she tells me that to server me properly she needs it. I said probably just me, maybe someone else. Then, she returns with no results for a Radeon 9700 and tells me about the other card. She tells me that the video cards she has are Nvidia SDRAM cards. There were two of them, I told her I don't want something that old. Then, after 5 minutes of searching, she comes up with an ATI Radeon 7500 AIW, in my mind now I'm wanting to hang up and I'm also thinking like what the hell is she telling me. After those 5 minutes, she comes back with a Radeon 9700 Pro for $374.95! I was thinking that their prices wouldn't be that bad because even the nice discount I can get isn't enough to bring that thing down to $200. I tell her that'll be all for now and I'll call back when I make up my mind. Now she asks me even though I've already told her that its it for now, she asks if there is anything else I'd like help on. I tell her no. Now she tells me for a few minutes that if I want to call her back, xxxx is her extension and that I can feel free to tell my friends, family, relatives, and she goes on and on about how I should feel free to tell people her extension number.
I'm guessing those kinds of support people read out of a book with 20 lines or so and handle everything. Sheesh, if tthey could put up that book online, I could serve myself 10 times faster.
