dell studio hybrid wireless issue

I am having a strange issue on my studio hybrid desktop. It has a builtin dell wireless n mini card and I set it up to connect to my router. I then tried a speed test using www.speedtest.net.

My download speed was 320 kbps and upload was 946 kbps

In the same network on my laptop, my speeds are download 7430 kbps and upload 960 kbps

So looks like my upload speeds are correct but my download speed is getting capped somehow.

I am on cox cable which is advertised as 9mbps down and 1 Mbps up.

Probably a problem with the compatibility between the Wireless N card and the Wireless N router. Try connecting to the router and configuring it to only go with wireless G or B/G speeds and see if your speed goes up
