One of my friends recently bought a Dell SP2008WFP, and I have to say that it really looks great - and I'm a 20WMGX2 owner. From what I've read it's supposed to be a TN panel, but I'm really having difficulty believing this. For one, the viewing angles are very good - the color seems to degrade very slightly at extreme angles, but that's about it. It's still perfectly viewable until you get to the point that you're not seeing enough of the screen to see it properly. Dell's website quotes it as a 160/160 degree viewing angle, but I don't see how this can be right.

The blacks are pretty nice, especially with the glossy coating. Ghosting appears to be pretty minimal as well.

Is it possible that this LCD isn't actually a TN panel? I didn't see it side by side with my monitor, but it really looks very good.

Edit: I've been looking at the monitor for a bit more now, and it does appear that the colors aren't too great. Of course, it's possible that my friend just doesn't have his graphics settings configured all that well.

ask him to access the service menu.. there should be a panel code for it. then you could possibly find out what type of panel it is online

Do any of the numbers on the back of the monitor have this number as well?

Edit: Went through all the menus and didn't see anything more specific than the name of the monitor.

Here's the numbers I found on the back of the monitor:

CN-0WK522-71618-7BX-AB0C

REV A01

78682

7735432315P0B WD-04

those numbers mean nothing. and theres a difference between the regular menu and the service menu

this was the old method of accessing it (may be different for your model)

To see the service menu(panel info on top line):

Turn off the monitor.
Hold down "menu" and the "+" while powering up the monitor.
When monitor is fully powered and the input graphic disappears: release "menu" and "+" then press the "-" button

if it works, you should see something similar to this Text

those letters (lm201w01) at the very top is the type of panel that the monitor has. it will almost probably be different, but at least you'll know what to look for.
