I just got one of these monitors and i was messing with the settings and i have to have the brightness to 0 and the contrast all the way up on the monitor and pretty much the same thing on the video card to have the colors look good alright. what bugs me the most is the black looks somewhat grey. but the longer i leave the monitor on, the colors seem to get better. is that normal for those of you that have this monitor? or should i just return it and get a new one since i have to have the settings pretty close to maxed?

thanks for the help

I have the same monitor, kick ass monitor.

you're not setting it up right, Got into your Menu , then select COLOR then chose sRGB then you set your Brightness to 29 & your contract to 87. that's how it's supposed to look.

when i do that, everything seems to have a redish tint to it and the black still looks pretty light

if black looks grey you need to dring down the brightness, just keep playing with it till you get colors your happy with

Mine is an HP p1110, but picture looks great by default.

Edit:Does your vid card have color options? it might be skewed there.

If you want to accurately reproduce colors then you should set it up like I said.

sRGB is the way to go.

yeah, my vid card has options too.......when i default that everything thing is super bright like i said when im in sRGB mode

when i put the brightness all the way down and contrast all the way up on the monitor, and play with the vid card settings it looks alright..........still nothing like my old 15" hp monitor that is 3 years old that this dell is replacing

my only thing is i got this monitor off from sell2all Ebay so it is probably off a lease. i called them and they said the would rma it. so would u just do that?

I dont know, this monitor is the best one i ever seen & i got to off lease too from Dell canada. dont mess with your video card settings you're just going to confuse things.

all I know with this monitor & my Radeon 8500 it looks fantastic on my desktop & games looks great.

i tried playing with color modes & stuff but it didnt looks right, i read the manual & they suggest sRGB with bright 29 contrast 87,so I used that & I am happy with the way it looks.

I run mine at 1280X1024 @ 100HZ

edit: Holy crap you got it for only 91$ !!!!

I paid 339$ cdn for mine, best money I ever spent.

ha, I only paid $55 for mine (if I told you how I'd have to kill you)

actually I had a friend who worked for a distributer of HP parts and got me a couple a cost, now everybody in my family has one. I dont have the connection anymore though, (I used to sell em all day long for $300 = 250 profit!)
