So I bought a Latitude CPx notebook off of a guy that is on the same car community board as me. I paid $125 knowing I'd have to replace the LCD screen on it, but wasn't mandatory for current use. Today I call up Dell to get the ball rolling on the LCD screen so I don't have to play with it down the road when it finally dies. The idiots want $469 for a fvcking 14.1" LCD that's refurbished and only has a 90 day warranty. Eat me... Ebay here I come.

Ebay. I got a replacement LCD for about $100 shipped. Lucky to since I broke the original LCD replacing the hinges😉

Agree, I've had some trouble with the parts department. They didn't have a model number or stock for a powersupply for one of their machines that was less than a year old. wtf mate!

This is not new information...

I buy and sell laptop LCDs for Dell and IBM all the time on ebay...take your time and you will find a deal.

That's normal for oem replacement parts from the manufacturer. If you go Egay, you don't know how many hours are on the inverter/LCD you get, so be wary as it could die shortly after you get it. Third party vendors for just the LCD (no bezel) seem to be $375.

I occasionally get CPx screens in and can keep an eye out for one if you like.

I don't think companies can use drugs. Individuals can, but I can't see how a company (being intangible and all) could physically do it.

LCD's are very expensive. If they're bad, usually don't bother buying the laptop unless you already have a source to get one.

OP, you're lucky they even stock parts for that dinosaur.

What a moronic rant.

BTW, a new XGA 14" LCD with inverter for D600s is only $290.

Why is his rant moronic? He didn't say he got the best deal in the world, just that he thought the price they quoted him for a laptop screen that is obviously an older model, was outrageously high, and I agree. Since it is older, I would expect they would be selling them for at least less than you can purchase a new, lowgrade, WHOLE laptop for.

Have you people EVER bought parts for older machines? Prices go UP, not DOWN after a certain period of time. Take a look at prices for PC100 RAM sometime.
