Dell service gripe thread

I wanted to cancel a order it took me calling 5 times
4 of which was their press this press that junk and 1
time when I got someone on the phone they switched me
to 4 different departments
then I was told they could fill out a form and it would
take 2 days before they could cancel order
damn I wish I knew someone in the news service so they could
write a story on stuff like this

Seems like 90% of the issues I see about online retailers is related to canceling orders. If people could make up their damn minds, we'd see 90% fewer complaints like this!

thats true
but if they made it as easy to cancel an order as they do to place it then you would be hearing less complaints like this
where for instance on their web site does it have a place that you can cancel an order

dell can't cancel their own orders so what makes you think you can? anything thats not a dell branded product dell does not have in their warehouses and so drop ships. there hasn't been a level of communication invented yet to ensure that an order gets cancelled before the distributor ships it. thus, its actually easier to set up a return after you receive the order. their own things they can cancel up until the moment the item is buried in a loading dock with 1000 other orders.

Dell seems to be unable to deliver laptops in a timely fashion. I ordered one for the parents, and Dell decided on the day it was to ship that a two week delay was in order. At least they called. :disgust:

I'll have to ask the parents if Dell has billed them already. Anyhow, I considered cancelling the order, but fear overtook reason. So, we wait... and maybe by a month after the order, the thing will ship.

My only gripe with Dell is that my laptop died a week after the (3 year) extended warranty expired.

Anyone know what I can do with a dead laptop?

I need to call them tomorrow.. hard drive died on our oldest dell last week. no warning whatsoever.. son rebooted, never happened. replaced it already, sent it out to see if the one critical thing could be retrieved, no joy there either. should still be covered through 7/04.. gonna hope they agree!

they've replaced the video card on that pc already.. I need to decide in the next couple days whether to extend the warranties on the newer two.. video card and hard drive in 3 years.. didn't buy a monitor with that one.. don't think I've had but one monitor lasted more than 3 years, ever.. I'm leaning towards going for it.

call tomorrow, get them to send new hard drive, put it in this one.. sounds good.. no.. put it in daughter's... wait and find way good deal on bigger one for ME.. no.. heh. well.. whatever.. they owe me a hard drive.. yes? how difficult it is will probably decide whether I buy the more warranty on the newer two.

sorry.. I'm just rambling. they were very helpful service wise when the video card died on the old one.. maybe they just suck at cancelling orders?
