They have an agreement, currently, with Intel to only have Intel chips in their boxes.

Until that runs out, no AMD.

Thats about as far as Dell is going to get towards selling AMD. They are only doing that to jockey for home PC builders business. If they can't sell them a machine, at least sell them everything they need to build one - minus the case.

Dell gets their chips from Intel for waaaaaaaayyyyyyy below market price because they agree only to use Intel chips in their systems.

Unless AMD would do the same for dell, no deal.

The AMD chips are sold as piece-meal to large corporate or Government clients that use Dell as a single Computing vendor for x86. This is not news and does not mean that the Intel Exclusive agreement has been torn up and thrown away.
