Dell Small Business has a good deal on the PowerEdge 400SC Server with an Intel® Celeron 2.0GHz, 128MB DDR 400Mhz ECC RAM, 48x CD-ROM, 40GB Hard drive, Integrated Intel gigabit NIC, Keyboard, Mouse, 1-yr Warranty all for

$499 - $100 auto off - $100 rebate = $299 with free shipping.

Good upgrade to go with is the Pentium 4 2.4 @800Mhz fsb for $99 more

$398 for the 2.4ghz 800Mhz FSB is not a bad deal.

the 400SC uses the 875 Intel Motherboard used on the 8300 Dimensions and
has an 8X AGP (not used) and a Gigabit Ethernet, SATA.

Sweet server for the money.

Ah... beat me to the post!

Think you had already posted the other Dell offerings but missed this one, which is the "revolving" Dell deal on this xlnt small server. This time sans Free dim-lit Palm deal.

But priced with a P4 processor instead of the celery offering last week and as you indicate above.

I'm showing a 2.26ghz P4 for this offering tho I didn't use your link. So it would likely be cofigured for the 533 fsb which imho is a great deal for $299.

Mine is running like a champ! This is a great deal for a basic barebones system. You add your preferred upgrades and you have a really nice gaming rig, video editing computer, etc. Also, check the rest of the FAQ site, Dell has been known to buy back parts you do not use like RAM and HD! Making it an even better deal!

This is their standard promo. I have seen it go down to 225.00 after rebates with the same options. This happens about every couple of weeks so it is best to watch and wait if you don't need one now.

How fast are Dell rebates? I mean, does it take the 6 to 8 or is it faster/slower?

Not sure how quiet the Dimension is, but it has been reported that if you have any ambient noise, you will not hear the 400SC. Check the faq posted earlier in this thread. I believe it has an entry about the quietness.

I have several 4550's, a 2650, a 2400 and a 600SC, and a 400SC. The 400SC is quieter than the 4550's, as quiet as the 2400. Mine is on 24/7 and is nearly silent. Haven't been too many deals lately from Dell though. Should be able to get a 400SC for around $225 like in early December.

Hey, 400SC fans... go look now. The $100 "instant savings" / $100 MIR deal is the standard 400SC deal, I've never seen it get any worse than that... but if you act now, the $100 instant savings is gone. It's now the worst price I've ever seen Dell offer on this box. Hopefully that means a good deal is coming!

I got in on a 400SC deal a while back that had the 3.2 chip. :D

Paid $523 AR & Coupons. Added a 9800np card & an additional 160GB Seagate Barracuda HD as well as a DVD Burner.

I'm very happy with it. She screams! Only wish Dell's could be OC'd. :(

Oh, & that 400SC FAQ site is awesome!!!!!

Yeah I got a couple of the 2.4Ghz last time I think I got them for 330 bucks a pop. But, I'm waiting for at least an upgrade... ;) Oh no! Not another upgrade!!! AArrrrr. Anyway... I am hoping for a 3Ghz for 400 or so. PM me if it happens! J/K! But, if you need a system now then at least step up to a 2.4Ghz 800Mhz FSB. Hopefully they will bring the 3Ghz CPU out for a real savings soon...

Can stand to add a few more crunchers to the Anadtech SETI Team.
