I have a chance to buy a Santa Cruz sound card that is a Dell pull. Are there any issues to using this card in my "generic" pc? I can get a great deal on it, but it's not a good deal if it won't work. Any info will be appreciated...... thanks in advance..:)

I know of no issues with the Santa Cruz aside from the gameport not working on a nForce2 board (nVidia's fault, but I'll say it real quiet in these parenthesis so the fanboys don't get defensive).

Lot of people bought their Santa Cruz cards through Dell, heck pretty sure that's where I got mine. I just use the regular drivers from turtlebeach.com without problems. Not sure if there are OEM versions of the SC or not though, and if there are what the differences are. So consider this a *bump* in that regard. If it's the same as the retail SC, no issues, enjoy.

i doubt Santa Cruz used different hardware than the ones they sold retail. Only thing that might be different in the Dells are the drivers. But that's not an issue if it's a pull. Go for it. Awesome sound card.

I dont get why people think OEM's use some sort of magical hardware that is incompatible with every other system in the world.

Because some OEM stuff is like that, dexvx. The Creative Labs (yeah, my own damn fault) SB Live OEM I got doesn't take any drivers offered on the creative labs site. Had to chase down drivers on some Hungarian FTP since I bought a bare OEM card without drivers.

That's why people ask. It's a legitimate concern.
