dell return - here's the money and keep the item?

so i bought a set of klipsch pmu 5.1's from dell, and also bought some belkin speaker wire and a belkin headphone splitter at the same time. after i set up the speakers i decided the klipsch speaker wire was just fine and didn't need the belkin stuff, so i figured i'd return it. sent dell email and the response was, here's credit for the item, don't worry about returning it! how's that for a sweet return deal! just never heard of a business doing that. anyway, heads up to you guys, may be a way to score some free swag!

good luck,

joe

Yes...reward their generosity by advocating that we use it to steal from them. Go fvck yourself.

some companies do that on inexpensive items. it'd cost them more to have it shipped back to them...repackge it and try to sell it than from the money they'd get from trying to sell that open box item.

now if it was the klipsch speakers you wanted to return, i doubt they'd tell you to keep it

kill yourself moron. its people like you that cause best buy and other places to have crappy return policies.

this happens here and there.

dad bought a dell laptop that came with a free G router. in returning the laptop, dell said not to send back the router.

Wow, same thing happened to me..

I bought a 42 inch Plasma TV.. did not like the way it looked on the wall...

I call to schedule a return, and they said to keep it and they credited my Credit Card...

Great. You are advocating people ordering stuff they don't need to take advantage of Dell's benevolence.

You are the reason good businesses become bad businesses (i.e. CompUSA's old restocking policy) or go out of business.

how sticky were your sheets when you woke up?

belkin products are "field destroy".... so if you were to send it back to them they'd just throw it away anyway

at least that's how things were when i worked at compusa

guys just calm down. Dont turn this into a flame war, he may have been a fool in posting this, but we dont all need to lower ourselves by piddling with crappy insults. Lordy, grow up!

Is today a "Turn off your sarcasm meter" day? Sure seems like it.

thank you, anymal. folks sure are ultra-sensitive around here. can't believe they don't recognize a little tongue-in-cheek when they see it. must not have taken their meds today ...

ironically the same folks will all jump in and laugh at a post about some poor schlub who electrocuted himself on accident. wierd.

I bought a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. Mouse stopped working after a short time. Called up Logitech, they said they would set out a new set and I didn't have to return the other set. got the new set in like 3 days.

Prepare to be attacked for taking advantage of warranty service.
