It has come to my attention that Dell's promotional tactics can be described as shady.

Couple of days ago, someone on Hotdeals posted a 20% off select LCDs deal. At that time, Dell priced their 20" LCD @ $1000 retail. With the promotion, the sale price comes to $800 and end Oct. 8. Today, I got a 10% off entire order coupon from Dell and was excited about this 28% off deal. This would bring the LCD down to $720, which makes it a very good deal.

Well, guess what? Dell has changed the retail price in the middle of the promotion! The retail price is now $1099, which brings the promotional price to $879. With my additional 10% off, the final price becomes $791! :|

This to me is extremely shady, what do you guys think?

Dude, Dell sucks!

That's just how these things work. And it's not just Dell. Many retailers pull these kinds of stunts.

uh, Dell is allowed perfectly well to change prices. even if it is in the middle of a promotional period, because Dell has promotions CONSTANTLY. They didn't do it to spite all the people who were capitalizing on their coupon, they did it because their supply costs went up (or they demand justified a price increase).

take an economics course, dude. :) or at least gain a basic understanding. I see nothing wrong with Dell doing this. at all.

uh...ya right. That $1000 retail price has been around for ages. You're telling me that all of a sudden their supplier bumps the cost?

Economics has nothing to do with shady business practices.

so? what if their supplier suddenly dropped the cost? you wouldn't be complaining then. and it would be the same thing happens.

You still got about 21% off, so why are you complaining? At least you didn't have to pay retail.
