i'm thinking of purchasing of a dell powerconnect 2000 series soon. how is the quality? what are some of your oppinions on them. a friend told me that he opened one up and said it used cisco parts.

Some of the higher-end switches are pretty nice. The low end ones can be beaten by even lower priced competitors.

The last time I cracked open mine, I saw no Cisco parts at all. In fact, if memory serves, it was either Realtek or Marvell chips that powered the little beast. In any case, I've got two 2324's and they both perform like champs... especially for how low the prices are for them.
